Friend of mine told me about some fun with the grand kids and painted Easter Eggs. He gave each child a specific egg and said gently peel off the shell for a surprise. And were they surprised. Each egg had the child's name written on the hard boiled egg white. Really neat. Can you guess how this is done ??

Some dye that penetrates the shell and then dye the shell?

Very close. Jim paints on the name in a mixture of white olive oil and alum on the hard boiled egg. After it penetrates and dries he does the whole egg in Easter colors.

Right click the smilie and save to your computer.
Then post and down there at "If you wish to attach one or more files... etc." click "browse" and select the smilie on your disk.
Click "Add the file". It will be uploaded.
It will be listed at "Attachments"... see that "Place inline" box? Click it.

Presto:

Now if I could just get rid of that "attachments" box...

  No pics so far. Why don't we all try with our own eggs. Post results/pics and laugh at our efforts.

Fixed.

All you have to do is put whatever image link you want in IMG brackets:

[ i m g ] LINK HERE [ / i m g ]

Just like that, only without the spaces.

Thanks, maybe I'll try that next time (both of those things).
And where do you get alum?

And where do you get alum?

In England (many years ago) we used to get it from the pharmacy. We used it as a waterproofing agent, before reproofing products were available.

Did you just mix it with water and wipe it on?

:??: :??: Oh my, I had a senior moment. The mixture is white vinegar and alum. The vinegar actually makes more sense than olive oil.

I knew it, I knew it. Olive oil made no sense, you need some kind of acid to penetrate the shell.
The air is much thinner up there in the far North, leads to senior moments like that from oxygen deprivation.

But it is very clean thin air. Actually home is just slightly above sea level so the air is not thin.

I was just kidding about the thin air - trying to blame your senior moment on something other than you. :poke2: :poke2: :)
When you get some free time (and money) take a trip down here to the beach and sniff our clean air. I even have another bike for you to ride.

Us GZer's (and ex Gzer's) need to meet up somewhere and socialize personally over a brew or two.
Anybody want to arrange a rendezvous or party? Start a poll about where to meet up?

We have been doing the Cape San Blast thing for several years now.

The Indian Pass Raw Bar is one of our favorites.

Riding is a little hot for me.

So many places to go and see. If money were no object I'd be an international traveller and wear out my passport.

Alum is in the "Stop Bleed" sticksfor shaving cuts.

Next GZ250 meeting will be in Portlaoise, Rep. of Ireland. Bring your wet gear and a big thirst.

We did this a little while ago, looking at possible meeting sites on the Eastern part of the Country since most of the members seem to be located there.

Don't forget there is a member map where you can update your location to help with things like planning meet-ups or other events.

So I just had to look at Portlaoise. Thank you Google Maps. Had a nice tour along Abbeyleix Rd and from Clonminan Rd to Meelick Rd. Very nice place in the summer going by the map/pics from Goggle.
Might have to drop in next year if our planned trip comes to fruitation. We gave up on a tour to N.Z. this year due to the entire cost and time availability. This year we will likely just roam down to Nevada in October with the Ranger and see the sites.

I just added myself to that map. Let's have all of us do this so we can see more easily where we are.

Why don't we all meet during the Myrtle Beach Bike Rally in May?
