Hi from Northern Illinois
I've been lurking here for a few weeks while I decided to buy a 2006 silverblue GZ250.I bought her and am loving her. I started out on a Rebel and then bought a 2010 Triumph Bonneville. I loved riding the Bonne but she had a few mechanical problems and it was a 100 mile round trip to the dealer. I sold her to someone who lives a lot closer and could deal with the problems.I decided I didn't need 865 cc and started looking for a smaller bike which brought me to this forum and ultimately my new bike. Thanks for all the info I've already gained from this forum and the genial tone of the members.

Welcome Annie. Glad to hear you decided to join up. The GZ will be a lot of fun and loves to go places. Sorry to hear about the Triumph, they are generally a pretty nice ride.

Yes, I agree, the Bonnies are supposed to be one of the best and I think 99% of them are. Unfortunately mine ran way too hot and was developing new leaks every other week. The dealer was not a great deal of help so I just decided to give up on it. No leaks on the GZ250 so far.LOL

Hi and welcome! Nice to hear that the GZ250 stacks up so well against a Triumph. I'm thinking of getting a bigger bike one of these days (maybe next winter.) What, I mean besides the mechanical issues, was it about the 800+ cc's that troubled you? I'm worried that I will get something that will have me in over my head, is why I'm asking.

Hey, your bike sounds just like mine! Mine is also a 2006 silver blue, and I have a bright blue helmet.

The Triumph was a really nice bike to ride. There were no issues with it as far as that. It handles well, the brakes are great and at 865 cc it wasn't too much to handle. If I hadn't had such issues mechanically and the dealer had been more motivated to take care of them, I'd still have the bike. Again I think I had the one lemon because all the Motorcycle magazines said they were very dependable. All that being said, I had my GZ250 out today and she is a great ride too!

Hey Diane
I love the color of our bikes. I ended up with a silver helmet. Do you call your bike silver or blue? I saw one ad that called it iceblue....seems to fit!

I've never known what color to call it--now I know--silverblue! Light blue didn't seem to fit, certainly not generically "blue."

Standing beside it will make it look smaller. Park beside a H-D and it looks even smaller..........But it is still a motorcycle and a darn good one.

It's funny but all of my friends think the GZ is bigger than my Triumph which actually was a lot taller and heavier. It must be the presence of it. LOL
Im new too. Love my GZ, all the best with rock n roll. OGC.
