Flipping the muffler

As there is nothing wrong with the original muffler (except I'm afraid it will cook any saddlebag I find), does anyone see a problem with:
1. cutting the muffler off,
2. reworking the angle of the pipe and
3. cutting the mounting tang off the muffler to flip up instead of down the make the muffler run more parallel to the ground???

Don't want louder... just like the old school look of the flat muffler and don't want to melt or burn saddlebag.

I discovered that my bags were being burned so I solved the issue by making an aluminum heat shield that I riveted to the bottom of the Right hand saddle bag. The heat shield is bowed slightly to make it stand off the bag just a tiny bit except at the two ends where it is attached. Even after a long ride the aluminum dissipates heat so rapidly that it is cool to the touch.

Yes, that's something that most of us have had to do. I never bothered "bowing" mine. The plate lays flat to the slight curve of the bottom of the bag, & it works fine. :)

Well then no need to change the angle. Makes it even easier ( and cheaper).
