Welcome to the forum from South Carolina. As a new rider I would suggest you take the MSF BRC (Motorcycle Safety Foundation Basic Rider Course). It's the best investment in your safety you can make.

Thanks guys. I'm taking a class through T.E.A.M. in Arizona. It's a two day safety course which allows you to get your motorcycle license if you pass a few tests at the end.

***Could you guys please take a look at my post in the beginners forum about prices, I'm trying to figure out how low I can go as I'm a student and don't have a ton to spend. Especially since I want to get a good helmet.

No idea about pricing but a good helmet is something I know a bit about. First and foremost requirement is to find a helmet that fits snuggly on your entire head with no pressure points. Not too snug to hurt or be uncomfortable. The snugness will eventually ease up as the lining compresses slightly to adjust to your head. Second is to go to a few shops and try on helmets of different sizes and headshapes. Not all heads are the same shape.
Now for the easy part at home. Google webbikeworld.com and read their evaluations on the helmets they have tested. They are a very good source of info about all riding gear and do real world testing by actually wearing the gear and tell it like it is.
A good online source for helmets is MotorcycleGear.com in Texas. I have never been dissappointed with any gear that was ordered for us in the past. Their closeout section offers some excellant prices that won't break the bank.
