Well.........Finally gave in & bought myself a new helmet today. My old Airoh helmet has given me faithful service for the last seven years, but it was getting way past its best, & at 65 mph the wind was getting under the peak, & forcing my head back. So.....taking the bit between my teeth, I wandered down to the bike shop. He showed me a few that were in the style I was after, but when I came to this LS2 helmet I was smitten. Opening ventilators for hot weather, removable padding for washing, good neck protection, Large visor for rain/debris protection, & last but not least, an extra smoked visor that drops down with the touch of that little red button that you can see in the last photo, for the mornings/evenings when the sun is on the horizon (just like a pilot's helmet :crackup ) Unlike my old Airoh helmet, which is not available in North America, the LS2 is "distributed exclusively in U.S.A. and Canada by ALLWINPOWERSPORTSCORP tel: +1 888 968 9888, http://www.ls2helmets.us" if anyone wants one. This one was for sale at €110, but he gave me a discount, & let me have it for €95 ($124)Picture 001.jpg[/attachment:1494o35m]Picture 003.jpg[/attachment:1494o35m]Picture 007.jpg[/attachment:1494o35m]

Good one! I was looking at Airohs too, but at the end i picked this one, and i'm very satisfied with it:

Compared to the helmet i had borrowed in the moto school... It's mine and very comfortable, sun visor is one of the best inovations there is! ;)

Hell yeah!
I love the dual visor helmets.
I recently got one myself:

I am also in the market for a new helmet. I have a Cyber U-378, but it looks more like an off-road helmet than street, and that raised non-removeable visor sure catches the wind. It does have the built in dual shields, which I like.
I tried on several full and modular helmets at the dealer, but for me they are not compatible with wearing eyeglasses, so I will stick with a 3/4.
I am now seriously considering the HJC IS-33 helmet. I did try on some HJC helmets to check for fit, but they didn't have the IS-33.
I do like the looks of your LS2, so I will do some research to see if it is available in the USA.

I wear a modular with eyeglasses and it's no problem. Consider that 40% of the hits are on the right and left jaw and chin and you'll want the protection.

I had problems putting on modular helmets while wearing glasses, and if I had the glasses off I had problems putting them on while wearing a modular. But I am going to try on more modular helmets to see if the problem is really as bad as I think. I do like the modulars and would like to be able to wear one.

All helmets can be a bother if you wear glasses but you need to see and you need protection. I have always had to take off my glasses to put a helmet on. Even with an open face helmet. Maybe my head shape or lack of coordination. Doesn't matter really. Squeezing the arms of the glasses into a helmet can be frustration but I will be trying an idea from a webbikeworld writer. He has shortened the arms by snipping off the down turned end of the arms so they are just a straight slide in. I do have one pair just for riding so what the hey, a little experimentation never hurts. Worst case scenario is new frames and a lesson learned but I highly doubt it. The glasses should still be held in the proper position and secured by the helmet itself.

Lynda started out with an open face helmet and a clear shield. Said the full face was too confining . After seeing the ease of use with a modular she finally bought one. That coupled with the risk of facial damage made her decision easier. After riding with a full face modular she said she feels much more protected and secure than ever. Glasses are no longer a problem since her eye surgery so she is very happy. Now she is on the hunt for real comfy sun glasses or maybe a helmet with a sun shade built in.

An excellent idea for me to think about!

Grab the helmet by the sides and pull out slightly. This will spread the helmet a bit and make it easier to put on with glasses.

I have both a modular and a full face, and honestly I don't see a huge advantage with the modular. Yes there is some advantage to being able to quickly flip up the face shield, but IMO, most of the time when I stop for a break, I want to completely remove my helmet anyways.
I also wear eyeglasses.

The modular is handier than you think. I just flip up the front when crossing the border so the guard can match the face to the passport. Stop for a quick drink of water and not need to take off the helmet. Also great for a quick pic while on the road. A quick step into the local 7-11 and no need to remove the helmet.
And last but not least. If your tummy says it's gonna heave you have a fighting chance to survive with some dignity.

Not to mention scratching your nose or, God Forbid, a sneeze.

a new helmet is definately on my list for this weekend, I tried on a bunch of helmets last weekend and haven't quite settled on what I want yet, not sure if mine is just really extremely wore out or what but I started with an XL then went to 2XL which wasn't really much better, even going to a 3XL it still seemed tighter than what I'm used to... I'm not sure what size the one I have is, but all the pad is wore out so maybe thats why the new ones seem so confining to me...

I'll definately have a full face helmet though, my uncle was in a motorcycle-car accident many years ago and his head ended up under the car, the only thing that kept the car from crushing his head was his full faced helmet...

Head shape makes a big difference. Find one that is a touch snug but you can feel all over your head. The padding will eventually give a bit to fit your head but remain comfy. I have a HJC modular and HJC full face. I was happy with the modular but then I tried on a Shoei Multitech. Oh my what a sweet fit. I could feel the helmet on my entire head with no pressure points. It was also a medium compared to the usual large by HJC. Shoei has just lately released their Neotech with even better features than the Multitech. Gotta do a test fit one day. Big bucks but probably worth it. Do the math, how much does it cost to own a $600 helmet per day for 5 years. Not a hell of a lot. 33 cents a day.................a lot less than a cup of coffee.

I am really in the market for a new helmet as my 3/4 leaves much to be desires and the wind nose Is such that I have to wear earplugs. Going for a short ride is a pain, by th time you get suited up add ear plugs, helmet, prescription glasses, or sunglasses and gloves I am thinking I should have taken the car or taken the scooter.
I really like the PGR or maybe a Hawk Modular.

I am All The Gear All The Time (ATGATT). I dress in all the gear or take the truck. A 15 minute ride is a waste of my energy getting dressed up like a power ranger. If my coffee isn't at least half an hour away I will not ride. Even better if it is 2 hours away.

I liked the fit of the HJC CL-16 and HJC CS-R2, but I don't like the graphics they put on everything... I feel like all the graphics are for sportbike people and think it would look ridiculous on a cruiser =) my other problem is that my GZ250 is red and my XS1100 is blue and I want something that will match with both =)

The HJC CL-MAX is a modular and only a bit more than the CL-16. Also quieter than my CL-16. Still wear ear plugs to protect what's left of my hearing. Got a white modular cause it is more noticeable in traffic.

I kinda think I would like either yellow or white. Is the Hawk 1198 any good?

It is DOT approved=Good. You still need a test fit if one is handy in your area.
webbikeworld.com does some very good evaluations on helmets with lots fitment tips and comments. Their site makes for some excellant reading about all sorts of gear. They tell it whether the news is good, bad or ugly.

After breaking 2 pair of sunglasses trying to shove them through the visor opening, I'm really happy with my drop down internal sun shield. I love being able to flip it up or down while riding depending on the position of the sun, etc.
I just wish it was polarized. I love that effect of polarized glasses where you can tilt your head and make the sky darker or lighter blue, and the road surface shinier or darker.
