Hi there,
Dream on  Must be the first GZ in history to do that. Did 203 MPH on a ninja. Sure your spectacles don't need changing when you're reading the speedo?

I'm sure lol I can see fine and yes it was 203(the bike was cammed, jetted,k&n with full racing exhaust) but I was 18 when I had that bike so now I'm not to worried about going that fast. Plus being in ems I've seen the results of riding like that...and I was as surprised the gz went that fast but it wouldnt maintain it it did stay at about 80 tho I promise you , I had a slight tail wind and was laid down on the tank. I dnt push it like that often but it was cold and about to storm so we just wanted to get home before it got us(which we didn't lol)my rain gear is being shipped as we speak :2tup:

Ah yes, I-95 makes more sense. Lynda's GZ would go 80 mph under the right conditions but it wasn't happy. Dropping down to a legal speed of 60 mph was a lot less stressful for bike and rider.

Hi and welcome! I'm on the interstate almost every time I ride. Curious to see what kind of mpg you get. I've been averaging 55-65mpg, but I tend to drop it into 4th a lot on the highway just to keep up.

You must have a few gentle inclines that are a bane to a GZ.

Definitely. Well it's basically driving down the central valley and then back up to get home. I go a lot faster the way down and it's a lot slower the way back up. ;)

I just hope mine will go 80km/h (about 54M/h) nicely on the back roads... :)

Oh, it does 54 mph beautifully, especially on back roads. I'm just trying to stay up at 65+mph (about 105kph.)

80km/h(50m/h) will be very comfortable on smoother back roads. 5th gear on the flat and likely 4th for a little uphill work. Back roads will also introduce you to wild life of the stupid kind. Don't hit anything unless it is small enough to eat in one meal.

I was watching a programme on tv last night, about the police in Scotland. One part showed what happened, in the Highlands, when a red deer ran out, straight into the path of a tourist's car. The deer was laying dead at the side of the road, and the front of the car had totally disintegrated. :jawdrop:

Tourists and forest rats are a bad combination. Hopefully the tourists fared much better than the deer.
Almost got a moose one day on the Vstrom. Sure glad the moose was quicker stopping than I was. I would have had a broadside view of a moose just before impact at 80 km/h(50mph). My bad, should have been looking more.

Don't ride scared, ride smart. I did not and almost hit the moose. Practice emergency stopping and avoidance as often as you can. It will come in handy eventually.

D@mole2 thanks man I might just have to I was wondering when thar was,we hear about. Daytona mostly here. And I may be actually moving to Sc in a few months ...@ww yea it wasn't the happiest at 80 and any head wind killed it (my next thing will be a windshield lol) @greatmaul I dnt ride the interstate often but I ride about 30 mi. Round trip to work and its pretty flat here in south ga minus the huge bridge I cross but I've had it about 10 days so far and after 3 fill ups I'm getting close to 75 mpg as I fill up at about 220 miles on a tank been great the guy I got it from said he got 50 so idk I'm a lil lighter too(185lbs) but it does great around 55-60 which is where I'm usually at. Now I'm thinking about the 16t sprocket, but I'm gonna jet and get a windshield first. And to everyone THANKS for the welcome! :2tup:
