The bags should fit no problem. The brackets won't fit unless you can modify them to fit.

How do mounting brackets work? Do the fit all saddle bags or do I need to find ones that fit that specific bag?

Any really cheap suggestions? :D I've seen saddle bags that just seem to use belts to fasten the bags. Are they easier to install?...

Usually, saddle bags are joined by a sheet of leather. You just remove the rear seat (2 bolts) throw the bags across the mudguard, then rebolt the seat to hold the bags in place. The brackets are fitted to the two bolts either side of the mudguard, and are fitted to stop the bags falling onto the rear wheel. That's why the ones he's selling won't fit - they're off a different bike. Another thing to beware of is that the GZ's upswept exhaust means that you need bags that won't hit the exhaust pipe. In any case, be prepared to pop rivet or bolt an aluminium plate under the right side bag, to act as a heat shield. :2tup:

After searching the interwebs. Its seems like these are the cheapest saddlebags I could find.

http://www.amazon.com/Leather-Saddlebag ... 247&sr=1-2 (http://www.amazon.com/Leather-Saddlebags-Motorcycle-SD2056/dp/B000LMT8F0/ref=sr_1_2?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1329600247&sr=1-2)

$50 seems much cheaper than buying mounting brackets and dealing with all that fun stuff. I really hope I don't need to put a heat shield up >.>... that would be annoying lol...

Thanks for the instructions btw. I was wondering how to take the passenger seat off lol...

These look much too large to fit the GZ but would hold a lot of groceries. You need bags that will not interfer with the rear signals so length is a consideration. Depth is mostly governed by the muffler position. You don't want to burn a hole in a bag as Alantf mentioned. More width is good for bulky items and allows all sorts of stuff to be transported.

Rear seat removal is a piece of cake. Pull off the drivers seat first just for better viewing of the rear seat front portion. Remove the "1" bolt holding the tail end of the rear seat. Doh.........Now I've forgotten the rest. Either wiggle the seat in a backward motion or unbolt the front end. Gotta be one of the two.

It's 2 bolts (recessed allen head) at the front of the seat, and one at the back. Easy, just like you said.

They look a little big ,but hard to tell without measurements. The first ones you posted looked perfect.

Here's the measurements from Amazon:

Width: 14 inches * Height: 11 inches * Depth: 6 inches

The width (14") seems a little wide.I believe mine were around 12".Check the measurement between signal light & shock to be sure.My brackets held the bags out past the shock so it didn't rub the bags.I also had aftermarket exhaust,so it was lower and the bag touching was not a issue.I cannot measure for you because I no longer have the bike. But I can post a picture for reference.

Blaine.....would you have been able to mount the bags a bit higher and more forward if needed ?? Just curious.

Yep.It would have been a matter of making the strap shorter between the bags & sliding them farther ahead. In the picture I've eliminated the strap and hard mounted them to the sissy bar.I never liked the leather strap that lays over the fender. If you don't protect the fender the leather will mess up the paint. It's also cleaner looking without the strap.

Just mine knowledge about bags; you can put a bags up to 39 cm, but then you have to relocate the blinkers - turnlights.
Or, like this store is recommending the saddle bag for gz
http://www.louis.de/_303f7ee6547ebc3c7c ... r=10025217 (http://www.louis.de/_303f7ee6547ebc3c7ced62d0168f2079cd/index.php?topic=artnr_gr&article_context=detail&grwgr=&wgr=0&origin=bikedb&typ_id=AR&list_total=33&anzeige=0&artnr_gr=10025217)

Looks like the form of the bag is allowing (even though it's 40 cm) to be mounted,l i prosume without relocating the turnsignals.
Guys from other forum suggested to me, to draw the bag (according to measurements) on the thicker paper and aligning it to the bike. If it goes, but it's not going well with the holders, then you try to make a holder of your own or some one else makes it for you. But first the measurements of the bags are top priority. Relocating the turnsignals is PITA said owner of gz to me, when i talked to him about that.
just my 2 cents...

Get a bike like my Honda PC800 - can carry lots of groceries and other "stuff" in it's built-in trunk.

The Harley guys go nuts when they see how much beer you can carry in there.

Holy crap, Mrlmd1!

That's amazing. I love bike storage. That's so much better than the E-bay trunks that I buy :)

Not only is it huge by bike standards, but it's locked, and in addition to everything else, it can fit a full face helmet, raingear, etc., along with the groceries or whatever else you want to bring along. The GIVI top case is also lockable and is removable and for traveling you can take it off like a suitcase and bring it with you if you spend the night in a hotel room or someone's house.
That bike is a '90 and even with 73,000 miles on it, runs just like new - after all, it's a Honda. Like I previously said, some members on the PC800 forum have reported having 200-300,000 miles on them. It's incredibly smooth and quiet and handles amazingly well. You can't beat these for either short trips to the grocery store, or for those long mileage travels, unless you want a gigantic Goldwing (with the radio, GPS, CB, cruise control, and everything except A/C). :2tup:

I remember reading mixed reviews about the PC. Some testers liked it, others thought is was just too far out to catch on. What the hey, if you like a smooth looking shape, a sweetheart of an engine that can do it all and no GW size and weight....................Honda built it just for you.
I see the odd one come through my neck of the woods and they are really nice up close and personal.
Hey Doc, what if any are the maintenance woes with the PC?? Besides the obvious removal of tupperware.

Line either side with a plastic bag, fill it with ice and beer cans. Dayum you can party for days on that. lol

Routine oil changes are about the only thing you have to do. It has a shaft drive, so no chain to muss with, and hydraulic valves so nothing to do there either. Honda designed it as a low maintenance machine, and going on the forums, there are very little in the way of problems with them. They have become a cult bike over the years (made between '89 and '97) and it's followers are extremely loyal and dedicated, and the forum is as nice and as helpful as this one.

Sounds like the designers were told to make it right or spend a lifetime working in a shop maintaining their mistakes. We need more bikes like the PC.

Just don't drop one in the shop like I did. I have not found it yet and the replacement was $5 USD.

Surely, any bolt will do, so long as it's the same size (metric). Even if you want them all to match, a set will cost a lot less from the local DIY store. They don't have to be allen head, that's just the style Suzuki fitted.
