View Full Version : South East US Meet-up?

At the request of others, and my own personal desire to do so, I'd like a show of hands from those of who:

-A) Live in the South East
-B) Would be interested in a Meet-up and ride sometime in the Spring

We used to have a Global Member map where we could search through and see where everyone lived. I don't know whatever happened to that. And that's saying alot, because I find all kinds of stuff in the archives of this forum.

If we can get a head-count and a general location for everyone, then we can determine a centralized location for all of us.

All of you zany Canucks and folks from other parts of the Country are welcome to come as well, but you'll have a longer way to travel.

Let's start a conversation here and see where it goes.

That's weird.

Everything looks fine for me, but maybe that's because I'm the creator.
The easiest way to keep up with the numbers will be the poll, but I can also read the posts. ;)
So just write down your answers.

I still can't vote. I may be a browser thing. I'm on Explorer 6 with XP. I never upgrade anything!

Try Firefox. Its free, and it practically installs itself. And , you will see a big improvement. Accept the flashplayer option.

I'm on Firefox here at work, only because they block me from installing Chrome...

I don't know what the deal is.

I voted from my pc using Firefox. IT can't be the browser ,, cause gzrider said he couldn't vote and he said he has IE 6.

Must be the forum theme, they're using, maybe. I'm using the light blue theme, forgot the name of it.

Mine was "invalid" - running firefox in windows 2000.

Earlier votes (like 2 years ago) worked, when I voted NO on banning you-know-who-ain't-here-no-more.

Try changing the board preferences (those who got the "invalid" message) I'm using the "prosilver" style. See if a different style is causing the message.

Sorry - I'm from the northeast and not going.

There are now 6 votes cast by three people I assume, two both from the southeast and going, and me.

I was in Tenn for the first Stromtrooper get together. We had motorcycle camp sites in Tellico Plains. Might be an idea to meet up there and do the Dragon and other sweet roads. Campsites were well maintained by folks who are also riders and cater to rider's needs. Tents or cabins at both sites.
Doubtful I will attend though. Would be nice to meet people up close and personal.

Only 10 votes ? Maybe the counter is stuck. Maybe the people have to know to change the board preferences to "prosilver" to be able to vote. I thought there would be more votes by now.

Can't really come up with a time or place without knowing how much interest there is in a group meet.
If only 3 people wanna do something, then we'll just have a pajama party in NC.

If there seems to be real interest, then we can start laying down some solid plans.

I have a gz but i dont like riding it long distances its just not fast enough for me in that aspect I like to drive and ride comfortably, as far as my speed goes, so if i can blip the throttle and get outta the way I am comfortable and i cant seem to do that with the gz on long rides through the mountains and it kinda scares me but I love riding my gz to work and anywhere as long as it isn't more than about 3 hours 1 way, i am gonna put it back stock most likely i have had my fun with the gz modding parts to see what i can get, I might just leave it the way it is if i can keep baffling in the exhaust that stuff just flies out.... I am working on geting that right the bike is too loud without the baffling in there and i cant afford to keep buying that stuff it gets costly but i have the og pipe i can just re install that. and if i get ambitious later on i might try the roots charger idea but i think that, might be a little too much for a play toy.

I fully understand the Wing as a preferred long distance bike. There is a lot more work and less play with the GZ on a long haul. That is the reason Lynda upgraded after her first 5000 km riding vacation.

I don't believe in special treatment.
You can ride a 49cc Chinese POS and that would be fine..... I would actually respect you more for risking your life just to meet the forum buddies. ;)

Jvacustoms
12-05-2011, 04:49 PM
Yeah, as you can tell I am not that Hardcore, 49cc to me is less power than my push mower, the gz has less cc than my riding mower, not that , that is a bad thing, I love my little gz just saying it is hard for me to justify riding long distances on that when I would be leaving a 1200cc piece of beauty at home. but i would ride the gz to meet-up if i had too. However i would not ride a 49cc anything to anywhere except the neighbors house in the suburbs

I'm trying to make a shared map so we can all update out locations.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Follow this link : http://g.co/maps/mpw85
It's an open Google map that anyone can edit. *But you have to have some kind of Google account.
Directions:
-Open the link
-Click "EDIT"
-Find your place
-Click on the little blue upside-down tear drop in the top left corner of the map.
-Drop it on your location and make a note of who you are in the little box that opens up.
-Click save. (Over near where the edit button was.)
-You're done.
GZRider, JvaCustoms, JWR, and ECR959 are already on the list.
Maybe we can all update this thing.
I wish I knew what happened to the other member locator map from long ago.... :??:
Mine is slightly Customized it wont do goldwing as a touring bike any justice in that respect.
I like a Naked Bike(i.e. no fairing, no super overloaded electronic station...ect.) I have striped this one down to just a bagger. A standard bike with hard saddle bags. I haven't gotten a windshield yet but i want one, I have found the parts just waiting on the funds to get it all done.
http://www.goldwingfacts.com/images/visitorsphotos11images/carols%20goldwing.jpg
It will look like that with no trunk and nicer bags, and alot more used, Might be Yellow by then too it is a wine berry color now but as it is to be a tribute bike. My father in law loved Goldwings in Yellow and black, I was thinking about doing a Super bee Theme Yellow with black stripes and on the side of the hard bags use a old Plymouth super bee logo insignia on each side.
For me, I'm voting on the concept of the meeting. If a time(month) and place (state) were set, it might generate more interest.
I tried numerous times, it comes up invalid every time. terry
We won't worry about the poll so much. Just type out your choice ;)
And don't forget to add yourself to the map.
