How do I go about getting them to stop squealing when I stop?

Sometimes they do.

The squeal comes from the back of the brake pad, remove and clean the back.

Sometimes bleeding the brakes and adding more fluid will give it a better feel and fit.

They sell a brake quieting grease that goes on the back of the brake pads and the shims to stop that squealing from occurring.

Be sure not to get it on your friction surfaces or rotor if you do make sure to use brake parts cleaner to get it off. so your brakes don't slip and fail.

Ive developed a squeak recently after having new tyres and brakes put on. In my case I know that its because the brakes are new and with the start and stop conditions where I live, the brakes on cars and bikes do take a beating.

Brake dust is a common cause and a good starting point. If that doesnt do it, it could be the springs in the mechanism between the pedal and the brake itself. Try a bit of lubricant on the spring, not WD40 though as its a freeing agent and on its own doesnt provide enough lubrication for a long term solution.
