For those of you who were around when my son Patrick was born, you'll remember this post:

I'M A DAD!!!! - viewtopic.php?f=3&t=468 (http://gz250bike.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=468)

Well, 4 and a half years later, we've done it again!

Mia Victoria was born on October 6th a 7:58 in the morning. Unlike our previous birth, there were no complications or imminent fears of death. So, needless to say, this one was a lot less stressful. I was even able to get pictures of my wife's guts after they cut her open, but I'll spare you guys that one ;)

She was 7 pounds 1 oz and 20.5 inches long.
She looks a lot like Patrick when he was born, minus the curly hair.

Ah well, more sleepless nights :) I bet you bless the invention of disposable nappies (diapers). When my two were born, many years ago ( :) ) we only had the terry towel ones, that had to be washed & dried. What a chore. O_o

Whoops - nearly forgot - congratulations. :2tup:

I just looked over some photos of my kids form the same age...day of birth.
They resemble each other more than I thought.

Congratulations. Hope everybody is well.
And why did you wait for 6 days to tell us all that? You had more important things to do?

Hahaha. Nothing comes before my duties to the GZ forum ;)

I wanted to wait until I had some photos here at the office to upload at the same time.
I was wondering if someone was going to mention that

I've heard it said before that all babies look like this:

I'm not sure if I should laugh or be insulted :neener:

Congrats on the big second event. Now your son has a little sister to love and protect when mom and dad are not in sight.

At least that was my experience. There was only 1½ years between them though. Now they're old teenagers and do like another.

Congrats Jonathan !

Congratulations, Jonathan! With two kids, you can consider yourself an official parent instead of a poser with one. :poke2:

My only child had 4 feet and a wet nose. She was a real sweetheart for many years and a privilege to know. As for human kids I had the misadventure of helping to raise and educate other folks ungrateful offspring. They were in need of a leash and obedience training more than most dogs.
#1 wife had a girl who didn't talk till I taught her. Once I was out of the picture she stopped talking b/c no one was there to talk and guide her.
Here is my Rant for the Day. People who talk baby-talk to their children. Really bad form. Talk in a normal manor and the kids learn faster and develop faster. No one would accept a teacher doing the baby-talk thing in grade 6 so why should parents start their kids off in an almost foreign language that they have to unlearn down the road.

I'm with you WW. And to add, use the formative years to introduce a 2nd or even 3rd language.

No kidding. At the rate the world is evolving and foreign languages are popping up you almost need 8 or more languages just to get a drink at the 7-11.

Yeah. And it certainly helps if you, the parent, has at least 1 second language up your sleeve.

My 2 grandkids speak fluent Russian as well as English (or American, may be more accurate) - age 3 and 6. My daughter's husband is of Russian descent, he has been here with his family for the past 30 years and everybody is American and speaks English but my daughter eventually also learned Russian and it probably took her longer to learn than it did her kids. Her kids picked it up as fast as they learned English and can separate the two and think in both languages, if there is such a thing.

There is such a thing.

When I first started learning Spanish, I would sometimes dream en Español. And when I was really into it, I would think it too.
To be honest, I still do sometimes, but I've slowed in my learning as I got close and closer to 100% fluency and the motivators I guess have died a little bit.

My son is a sloppy Spanish speaker but he knows when you turn it on and when to turn it off and he understands Spanish without a problem. He recognized from a very young age when, and with whom, he should speak certain languages. It's really quite impressive what young minds are capable of.

Just remembered this. I once met a dog trainer who trained his showcase dog to obey all commands in 3 languages.

That sounds like fun.
Wonder if spouses can be taught that? :neener:

It's really funny when you see someone talking to a dog in Spanish or French and the dog obeys, that somebody else watching remarks, "What an incredibly smart dog who knows French".

Spouse and command are 2 words that rarely go together. Maybe request and diamonds for incentive.
