Got up yesterday morning, and went down to the bike in the communal parking area, to find that some sick bastard had cut the starter motor cable. Trouble is, that out of the 18 apartments in the block, 13 are owner occupied (really nice people) but 5 are rented out, & the owner seems to rent to the scum of the earth. I've an idea who did it, because a few of us had to report one of the low lifes for making a hell of a noise at all times of the day & night. Reported it to the police, & they came & took a statement. Not much use, bue at least it might get through to them that the police are involved.

Anyway, stripped the cable out, this morning. Luckily it had been cut about 1" from the starter motor. Hadn't got a lug the right size, so I took the cable down to the local bike shop, & he crimped a new lug on for €5. Replaced it with a slight rerouting & it's fine again.

May the sick bastard rot in hell!

Well, Sounds like a chitty situation if I had ever heard one. That is why I am a country kinda guy. If someone comes in my parking area uninvited they are likely to meet the barrel of one of my guns, Dont know which on depends on the part of my house I am in. But one of them for sure.

Might think about a hunters camera that you set up to see what is out there it is a motion detected camera pretty cheap in the U.S. I have seen many conflicts get resolved that way around here. because then you have photostatic proof of who did it.

How would they know what they were cutting?

If it's who I think it is, he works in a mechanic's, & going by the shape of the cut, he used heavy duty cutters.

I wouldn't fix it just yet. I would watch that dude over the next couple of days to see if he pays any extra attention to your bike.
Hey, maybe even ask him if he can help you figure out what's wrong. Play dumb and see how helpful he is ;)
