1st Oil Change

Not exactly sure where this post should go. Last night I changed the oil in my bike for the first time. I was not sure if the dealer I bought my bike from had done so since it was purchased used. I used Mobil 1 Synthetic 10W40 motorcycle oil due to some of the posts in within other forums and a K & N oil filter. I must say that it was pretty easy and I am thrilled with the results. My bike does seem to shift "easier" than before. Maybe this is all in my head, but I swear that I can tell a difference. ANother difference that I think that I have noticed is the MPH at which I shift gears. It seems that my bike can rev/speed up a little more before a gear change feels or sounds necessary. Especially in the lower gears. Again this may just be my imagination, but I think that there is something to this. Has anybody else noticed any type of change when switching to synthetics for the first time? Or is it along the same lines as "my car seems to go much faster now that I have washed it."

Yes here, too. I was actually quite surprised at the difference in shifting between dino and synthetic oil. I swear, the next time BadBob says something, I'll just do it, no questions ask. I really thought he was full of hooey, but dang it, he was right once again.

I had a 2001 Kawasaki KLR250 dual sport that very often, unless I did a very deliberate shift, would pop into neutral when shifting for 1st gear to 2nd gear. I switched to Mobile One 10-40 "red cap" (no longer available I've heard), and that bike literally never missed that shift again. That was probably the only real difference I could detect, but I was very happy with the improved shifting.

Synthetic oil is good. My experience with it in the Buell is that it transfers heat better, thus allowing the motor to run a bit cooler. With as small an amount that the GZ250 takes, there is no reason not to use it.
