Can anyone ease my mind concerning tire pressure. Dealer service said to check once a week and I've been taught that you should check before every ride. Bike has Metzeler ME77 front and ME77 rear; manual reads 25 psi front / 29 psi rear. On the side of caution I've checked daily, as I ride almost every day.

When they get down to about 15 psi, the rear starts feeling a little wobbly, but the front still works OK.

Everybody seems to run at different pressures. The 2 up pressure is 25 front, 33 rear, so I tend to run at a couple of pounds over this, and if it loses that couple of pounds between checks, then no worries. I reckon it's all to do with the weight the bike has to handle, & finding the happy medium between too soft (too much tread on the road) & too hard (not enough tread on the road) Testing before each ride does sound like overkill. A quick glance before each ride should be sufficient, with a proper check once a week. :2tup:

NO WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!! Look at the information plate on the left side of the bike, just in front of the rear wheel. This tells you what Suzuki recommend as the SAFE pressures.

Just DON'T LET THEM GET THIS LOW. This is a sure way to die!!!!!!!!!! Your tyres are the ONLY thing between you and the road.

All,

Just looked at plate near rear wheel as alantf advised...says 25 psi (front) 29 psi (rear) for solo rider, which is also stated in the owner manual. I'm going with that. :)

You were but I wasn't, I was out of a pressure meter for a while and the tires felt good (hard enough) however recently when going through curves the rear felt less solid-on-the-road than usual. Got me a new gauge, and sure enough both were down to 15 psi...

That's the pressure recommended for a lawn mower, not a bike.

It does illustrate though that it doesn't matter how much exact pressure should be in the tires, a couple pounds more or less make no difference.

Now they're at the factory recommended pressure again.

ok then, front tire getting low makes for very dangerous and sluggish steering. you neglected to add that and the post you wrote seemed like a joke. fyi

Good idea. Also running a little extra air will lessen the tire wear. This is what we did with Lynda's GZ and the tires looked very good when she sold it.
