Do you have a topic concerning the removal of the gas tank?
I thought I saw it the other day, but when I tried to find it last night and this morning, I couldn't. The suggestions about spark plug removal (cleaning around the spark plug prior to removal to avoid debris falling in) were/are critical for avoiding a huge, easily avoidable given the proper information beforehand, repair bill.
Thank you for your consideration.
Very easy.
Remove seat.
Remove two bolts that hold tank.
Remove fuel and vacuum line.
Pick up tank at the rear with one hand and pull back and up with the other hand.
The whole process should be about 3 minutes..

Ok, I'm going to try this also, because my led wiring is all ridiculously routed (and shorting out) under the tank, but I have a question.
I know you would have mentioned this, but doesn't the gas all run out? Do you have to drain the tank first?

Assuming your petcock is working correctly, if the switch is in the "ON" position the gas only flows if vacuum is applied via the smal tube that connect to the inside (back of the valve). Otherwise you will just get a few drips when you disconnect the fuel tube (larger).
Yup.
Just a little more than a teaspoon full.

Just a side note, on California GZ250's apparently (not sure of others) there are 3 connections under the tank. 2 to the petcock (fuel and vacuum) and one on the other side, a rubber tube with a coil around it that goes to some kind of plastic cylinder with a clamp on it.
Must be smog. My cell phone is old school right now (no camera) so no picture, but if I get a chance later, I'll post a pic of it.

The plastic cylinder would be the charcoal cannister as specified in Cali.
I have an oil leak stain on the fourth fin, left side of the engine. Assume its the head gasket that needs to be replaced. Mileage is 9,870 on 2007 GZ 250. The stain just appeared and I haven't ridden the bike since, so I hope there is no further problem.
The manual warns that fuel tank gaskets and O-rings must be replaced but I don't see them on the pictures or find them on the list of gaskets.
I see two other gasket listings; one for head cylinder and the other for cylinder. There are also two "Gasket Sets" shown on the gasket list. Not sure which one(s) I need.
Do you know what, which and where I should proceed.
Thank you

Might not need the head gasket replacing. The bolts may have just slackened off. This has happened to me twice. Each time, the mechanic just torqued them up and they were fine for a few more thousand miles.

It's also very common for some buildup to occur there. It's not a serious issue unless it's leaking heavily and consistently.

Yes, that's what I meant. When I saw the buildup, I took it to the mechanic, who tightened the head bolts and cleaned the fins. No more buildup for a few thousand miles. Then, when the buildup started again, the mechanic repeated the process, and the fins have been buildup free for quite a while. This appears to show that the buildup is caused by loose head bolts.
