Hi just wanted to say hi to you all. MY husband bought hisself a bike, I rode one time with him and then we both decided I would be happier riding myself. So we set out looking for a bike for me that would be light and easy to handle. So we saw a add for a 2002 GZ250 for 1,000. We went to look and got it for 800 yay. Anyways it was spray painted and someone put a different muffler on it so it is loud. Well like the pipe but hated the paint job so my husband repainted it the color I wanted. So I went with Leman's Blue Pearl. I bought bike last Monday, took my test Tuesday passed yay me lol and then went riding last Wednesday. So been riding about a week and im hooked. I love it. Well just thought I would share some before pics and some after my husband painted it pics.
What is looked like when we picked it up and it was missing a side cover so had to buy that.

Thanks everyone, he does do a great job. I so love the blue and now it looks almost brand new. Im trying to ride safe im about a 30 mph kinda of gal. I just like to cruise, when I get to going to fast I keep thinking about splattering on the ride and that slows me down real fast. I dont know if I will ever be comfortable riding fast, but love riding slow. Glad to have found this board and look forward to reading everything and getting to know people on the board.

Riding fast isn't all it's cracked up to be. Riding slower allows more time to smell the flowers and enjoy the scenery.

Take your time. In six months you'll be complaining the bike won't go fast enough.

That's what my husband keeps saying, he says I will want another bike in a year are two. But I will just ride his when I want a little more power. lol But at the moment the GZ has enough power to make me happy.

NIce deal! Can't beat that! I disagree with wanting something faster, though. The first bike I bought was a 1984 Honda Magna vf700c...it was a really nice bike, but it was really fast and really heavy. Barely ever rode it, then recently sold it to buy my 2001 gz250 and couldn't be happier. The Magna sounded 10x better, but the gz is much more fun to ride for me.

Bigger is not always better. As much as I like my Vstrom 650 there are days when the whole thing could be 10 % smaller in every way and still be a hoot. 10 % doesn't sound like a lot until you measure seat height and the weight factor of the bike. That 10 % reduction looks pretty good to an old guy.

I do like my husbands Suzuki Savage its not much heavier then my GZ. But im sticking with my GZ I love it. Its just right for me and I think it would make a great starter bike for everyone. :) I want something that im comfortable on and my GZ is it.

Welcome to the forum from South Carolina. You didn't mention it so I will. I'd recommend you take the MSF BRC (Motorcycle Safety Foundation Basic Rider Course). It will help you prevent bad habits and help you get rid of any you already have. Ride safe.

Joni35~
Welcome!
I thought about the Savage or Boulevard S40
as it is called now. Just didn't like how the
Speedometer is mounted in the Tank and
not really in my field of vision. It does
look really nice in the Pearl White.
