A dab of Blue Loktite will make the bolts very secure.

and one of the things I didn't check was the bolts holding the lock into the side panel. Found out the hard way.

Loose bolts and stuff can be more than an inconvenience. 1st bike back in 1976 was probably never really tighened up or checked by the dealer. Way off in the bush and suddenly had a box full of neutrals. Luckily I did find the problen by accident and went home. Next day the tool box came out and I went over the entire bike. Never had a problem after that and got to learn a bunch about the bike.

That's a common occurrance across all makes and models of bikes. I was riding with a friend and when we reached our destination his helmet lock on the rear fender was gone. He said it was there yesterday so he must of lost it on our ride. I was following and never saw it come off. He's pretty good with maintainence. So, yeah, there are things we won't think of.
