GZ vs TU

Not a lot of information out there on either bike. Which is stronger? I know the FI would be nice on the TU but not worth the extra money to me. The TU makes almost 16hp at the wheel and 12 ft lbs from a dyno I found. Any info on the GZ?

Also, here is a dumb question. Why does the GZ have two pipes out of the head when its a single thumper??? I dont get it.

Is there any road tests published on the gz you could point me to? Thanks.

Hi there, & welcome to the madhouse.

Two pipes because the GZ is a twin valve. 2 induction & 2 exhaust. That means that there's 4 valves to check & adjust. Don't forget that valve check & adjustment (if needed) is an important part of the services.

The carb is the achilles heel of the GZ. You'll find that at some stage you'll need to put a dose of carb cleaner in the fuel tank, as the carb is prone to clogging up.

As for GZ versus TU, there's a thread somewhere on the site. If you use the search feature, you should find it.

Apart from the above, the GZ is a solid, bullet proof bike. I don't think any of us can find anything really bad about it. It is what it is. It's really at its best around 60-65 MPH, & not really designed for continuous freeway speeds, but it's the best "around town" bike I've had. Marvelous for getting through congested traffic. I've had mine for 4 years now, & had no problems. :2tup:

Well DOH! O_o I thought about this about an hour after I posted but thanks. What is the interval on valve adjustments if you dont mind. Thanks for the heads up on the carb also.

Suzuki has what they call a Twin Dome Combustion Chamber (TDCC). It supposedly increases power and efficiency.
The secondary pipe on the Gz is the escape route for the second combustion chamber.

I can't really see why they just didn't go with a sinlge, fatter pipe on a traditional CC. But I'm also not a suzuki engine designer.... :)
