Been trying to follow some of the info from/about Japan's woes with their reactors and such. Any other country with that many people and little area would be ready to throw in the towel. Not so in Japan. These people are a credit to the human race with their attitude and fortitude when confronted by such a disaster. I certainly hope they get control of the reactor crisis soon and start on the long road to recovery.

My brother tracks continental drift using highly accurized (is that even a word?) GPS signals. He has a position plot of one of his sensor stations in Japan - it moved 5 meters! The sensor monument is rather tall, so he thinks some of the shift is due to the monument tilting, but no one has been able to physically inspect it.
It was quite a significant event.
I echo WW's sentiments as well.

Same here, we have been watching a lot of NHK the past weeks (to the point that I know some of the news readers' names now) and we're very impressed by the attitude and strength of the Japanese people.
