View Full Version : WHAT THE !!!!!!!!!!!
I was headed into work today and the bike started fine. As I pulled out into the street I noticed that the bike seemed a little sluggish. I thought maybe it is just not warned up yet. On the way to work It would not go over 45-50 mph. The breaks do not seem to be a factor and are not sticking. Its a 2007 with only 210 miles on it.....any thoughts on this one???
Thanks :??:

Running out of gas
Bad gas
If not, then.......
Back to the dealer for sure.
I just put in my second tank of gas yesturday and rode some last night with no issues. I might drop the bowl on carb and make sure I dont have something in there.

sounds like a stuck cable or slide somewhere inside the carb. Can you open the throttle all the way up?
Try revving the bike in neutral and make sure it will rev wide open.
Let us know
Just got back from lunch {waffle house} and it is still doing the same thing. It does seem to rev ok at a stop light while in gear and the clutch pulled in. It did seem to take off after about 2-4 seconds of full trottle while in 2-3 gear. Makes me think something might be in one of the jets in the carb. I also tried to make sure the spark plug wire was secure and I have to take off the chrome cover to make sure but it did seem to rock from side to side?? I wonder if the plug in loose?
Took the bike to the dealer after work and the service guy rode it. He thought it was a little sluggish too. He drilled out the tap on the carb to get to the mixture screw and adjusted it. he rode it again and said if it was his bike he would bump up the low speed jet to a #20 I asked why it would do this out of the blue and he was not sure.....Hmm....sounds like sh!t to me. I ordered the new jet {$2.50} so we will see what happens. Just for the hell of it I got home and took off the carb bowl and took out both jets. they are both clean and I did not see anything in the bowl. Any more thoughts on this?? :cuss:

Smells a little rank to me too. Might not be carb at all. Might be a fault developing in the electronic ignition.
Talk to the salesman who sold you the bike. "Ask" him if your state has a lemon law.
Be nice but firmly inform him that it they can't fix it right in a short time, you will expect another new bike in exchange......or a full refund.
States that do have lemon laws sometimes don't apply to bikes. If they do, then most have some kind of "number of attempted repairs" provision. If it looks like you might end up in that situation, DON'T STRING IT OUT; that is, pick up the bike (be sure to get a service ticket) ride it and if it's not right, take it back the same day....new service visit. Doing it this way, you can rack up the required number of repair attempts in a very short time.
Good luck!
electronic ignition makes more sence. The salesman is not there anymore so I think I should just go to the manager. I was thinking about it last night and a jet is not a moving part or an electrical part. they dont realy wear out or anything they can just get clogged. Its got to be something else. When I take off and keep the bike in first gear and then bring it to full throttle it seems to have no power and then kicks in and take off. This is the same in all gears. Also when I climb a hill it just bogs way down and seems to have a huge loss in power even if I down shift. Last but not least I cant get the bike over about 45-50 mph at full throttle...just seems to have no power.

Wolf: What did u find out was the matter with your bike? Just curious as to whether or not you got satisfaction from the dealership concerning a fix or replacement. Hope to hear all about it soon....
well, I figuered they would probibly take my bike in and then just let it set till the new pilot jet arrived anyway so Saturday I I pulled all the jets out of the carb and blew them out with a air hose. I did not see anything clogging any of the jets but blew them out anyway. I also checked the choke cable at the carb to make sure it was seated properly. Then I drained the gas tank and took off the petcock. There was some debree around the filter on top of the petcock so I took it apart and cleaned it. I did not see any tears or pinholes in the rubber diaphram in the petcock. I put everything back together and so far it is running fine. If I had to make a guess I would think that maybe the choke cable needle got seated wrong somehow while I was warming it up.....not sure but if I have any more issues with it I will be sure to post them.
Thanks everyone for all you advice and input.
