Question. Is there any shock setting that anyone has found to be better than another. I'm 6'2" and 230lb. Right now the rear shocks are set all the way up. The bike seems to be a littte stiff. Maybe its just because its such a light bike? Thanks

It's just a case of finding out what suits YOU. Try adjusting them one notch at a time (don't forget to set both sides equally at the same time) then go for a ride & see how they feel. So long as you've got a screwdriver/bar with you, you can even adjust them at the side of the road (it really IS that simple) so that by the time you get home they're set up to your liking. Just don't for get that the GZ suspension is ALWAYS going to feel bad, due to cheap OEM shockers. :2tup:

I adjusted them today. Ended up on #3. Rides better. More of a float feel than before. I like for now.

Hey cb - question on this older thread : when you said you had them set "all the way up", do you mean at the most stiff setting, where the shock is compressed the most? I am assuming so, because of they way you described it.

I ask because I was actually thinking of tightening mine a bit (they are on 3 now) because I am concerned that the bike may be bottoming out on bigger bumps. However, I am only 142 lbs, and the bike only has 14K miles. So I am wondering - how far should the bike settle when a person sits on it? And is it possible I need to actually set mine to a less tight setting instead?

I guess, like someone else posted, the best thing to do is just bring a big screwdriver with me, adjust it some different ways, and see how it feels.

I weigh about the same as you do,and always kept mine on the third setting.I found #1 too soft and #5 to stiff.I experimented a fair bit and always went back to the 3rd setting. :2tup: :rawk:

I weigh 260, you can guess where mine are set(5). And I still bottom out on big bumps.

I'm 6'-1" and weigh about 280 lbs. (on a good day) and I keep mine on the 3rd position.

Right on - thanks for the input fellers. I will probably experiment just for the fun of it. But it sounds like good ol' number 3 is pretty much the standard, which is good to know.

I also read another post on here where someone mentioned that the ride on the GZ is always going to be a little rough just because of the nature of the bike, so perhaps there isn't any "better" setting. Of course, I used to have a little more "internal padding" too. But since I've lost about 30 pounds over the last year, those bumps sure seem a lot bumpier! Lol!

I never thought about that as an unforeseen consequence of losing weight, and - literally - losing my ass!
