So I installed a back seat on my bike today then filled up with gas. The bike started right up and I let it warm up. Got on it put in into gear and as I was pulling out of my drive way and gave it gas it just stop running. Now I have no power, no lights, no horn, and it won't start up. Any one got any ideas?

Do you know how old your battery is?

Nope but if it started the bike up would it just quit like that?

Check your battery connections and ground, maybe something's loose. Check the main fuse to see if it blew and something has shorted. Search for 2 other threads on here exactly like this one, they're pretty recent, both by Ladee Rose. One is on here 7 down from this one.

Heather, did you have the front seat off ?? You may have accidently jiggered a wire or 2 while doing the job. Check all the fuses as mentioned and the battery connections for tightness. Do you have a meter or a test light ? They are great for trouble shooting and dirt cheap at an auto parts store or even Wally World. Try WW first, probably cheaper.

Something that comes to my mind is the little rubber covers on some the connectors in that area could have been moved when reassembling everything letting the bare connector make contact with the frame, which in turn causes a fuse to blow. That is if a fuse is blown.
Another case could be that a wire bundle it rubbing on the engine or another area bad enough where it is making contact with metal.
I actually had a case of the positive wire from coil was melted and rubbing on the engine in such a manner and caused the engine to die at differnent times, but I didn't lose all the power and the bike would start right back up. These are just a couple ideas if it turns out your battery is good and all the conectors are hooked up properly. Good luck.

Yes that IS possible.
More likely is a loose cable or blown fuse......as already mentioned.
A meter would be very helpful in finding the problem.
Heather, I hope that the seat I sold you is not the cause of your problem

There you go Heather, some one to blame. Tell GTGZ he has to come fix the bike at his cost.

LMAO GTGZ it was not the seat. The seat is great! We found the problem and it is running fine now. I do have another question. When I bought the bike is had a salvage title because the lights had been stripped. The guy I bought it off of replaced the lights for me but I noticed the other day when the bike is on my headlight, front turn signals, and break lights are on but the rear turn signals are not. They work when I turn the indicators on but they are not on as running lights. Is that normal?

So what was the problem?
And the lights are fine thats the way its suppose to be. Its that way on my GZ anyways.
EDIT: a salvage title just because the lights were taken off? sounds fishy to me.

No we were not able to find a reason. The bike had been sitting for a while before I got it. It is a 2001 with only 2960 miles on it.
