View Full Version : Mileage POLL : How many ya got? How many will you...?

I was looking at my odometer this morning, which reads just over 13K miles, and I started wondering, "I wonder how many I could put on this thing?" (thing being my '01 GZ). Then I wondered, how many miles have people gotten on one? What is a realistic expectation for an upper limit? If I kept the oil changed, did regular servicing, and took care of it, could I get 100K on it?

So I thought it might be interesting to have a kind of poll, and ask everyone :

1. How many miles do you have on your GZ250?
2. How many miles do you realistically think you will be able to put on it?

Thanks all, and happy riding! :2tup:

Thanks for the link to the other thread music man. I guess I am still wondering however, as I stated in the original question, what the upper limit for mileage is on these bikes, if there is one....?

Is it realistic to expect that a person could get over 100K miles if they take care of it? So far, it sounds like blaine or easy has the highest mileage, but neither is 100,000 yet.....

My father-in-law who has been riding his whole life said this bike should get 80,000 or more miles out of it if taken care of. I hoped for at least 20k so that it great news. I wouldn't even be opposed to an engine swap at 80k if it needed it. I have 6200 on mine now and it runs like a champ.

Easy, you're right - think I had you confused with canuck from that other thread. And scheezo, I agree - I would have no problem doing a motor swap if I had to when the time came. I swear I love my GZ more every day I ride it. My desire to get a bigger bike seems to have almost completely disappeared as I get more and more comfortable with my ride.

I drive mine to work every day, 5 days a week, even in the 115 degree heat. I am saving a ton on gas money, and to be honest, the heat really isn't that big of a deal, unless I am stopped at a light for a long time. And, contrary to what some may believe, my mesh riding jacket actually keeps me cooler than if I was wearing no jacket : it is designed to channel the airflow for maximum cooling, and it keeps the direct sun off me.

In short (or not I guess! Lol) I am planning in riding my GZ until I retire basically, how even many miles that takes!

Have a great, and safe, weekend everyone :2tup:

good suggestions.

GZ might go beyond 100K but in the hands of 3rd or 4th owner.

Wow emory, that is quite the commute! I would venture to guess you are loving the gas mileage of the GZ eh? I know I sure do, especially compared to the 13 or 14mpg my dodge truck gets!

Good luck and ride safe :2tup:

dodges will run forever, but they aren't well known for economy.

my taurus wagon is geting 26-28, but now that gas is finally going up again, yeah, i'm lovin my geezer and its 58-82. long as i can keep it down to 50 or so, i'll keep getting that 80+ and not complain so much about my sore butt.
