A really scary outlook on government debt.

Most everything "government" does these days is either just plain stupid or very scary or both.

And it isn't limited to one political party or the other; they both do it, just that each one has a little different tone to it.

The professional politicians have figured out that they can pretty much do anything they want because........what's the worst we can do to them ?????? ......vote them out of office ??????.....big damn deal.

We desperately need some way to "take back" our government. The rich individuals and corporations already have too much power and it gets worse every day. Any politician who claims otherwise is just lying.......and anything they do to "change it" is mostly just smoke and mirrors.

Yes, it is very depressing.
Thanks for bringing it up. :fu:

Surprisingly, now that England has just got a coalition government, from what I've seen on the news, it appears that the new Prime Minister is the first in many years to take the bull by the horns & to actually prove that he was going to to do something positive, rather than to try & please the voters, to get him re-elected. We'll have to see how things work out, but for the first time in many years I'm optimistic that things might start to change. :)

I'll have to agree with ER, as long as we keep electing Democrats and Republicans to office, nothing is going to change for the better. They may have slightly different public agendas, but basically they both keep spending more than they take in and that's not likely to change with either of those two parties in office. Sorry America.

A number of years ago we actually had a real "Man" in the Province of Alberta as Premier. He made some really unwanted and painful decisions to get the province out of debt. His agenda took a while but a debt free province surfaced and he controlled the foolishness from prior governments/parties. He retired and guess what happened ?? Party time $ and back into debt for Alberta. Politicians should be held accountable for their decisions and mistakes just like the rest of us.
I have a theory about accountability and doing things right but it involves gun fire and blood shed.

I have a theory about accountability and doing things right but it involves gun fire and blood shed.

Alas, that is not just a theory.

In the WHOLE recorded history of the world, how many times has a "country" made a radical change in the way it's government works WITHOUT an armed revolution ??

The recent collapse of the USSR is about as close as it gets, I think, and that even involved several "little" wars.

I think there is no rational reason to think it will be any different in the near future either.

May God help us......for we know not what we do.

My theory doesn't include armed revolution but I am sure it would work.
