Hey all,
I figured I would formally introduce myself. I took the MSF course last spring but never got around to getting a bike. About a week ago I was visiting a friend and saw a little green GZ sitting in his garage. He had bought it from the NH DMV at a state auction. It is a former MSF training bike. He does not ride and only bought it to fix it up and sell it. He lost interest in the project and offered to sell it me for a decent price.
Now I own my first motorcycle and I am loving it. Its a 1999 with 3700 miles on it. It has never been registered and has never seen anything but a parking lot. Its definately in need of some minor TLC but I am happy with it. I have ordered all the parts I need to get it on the road. I am hoping to have it on the road in a week or two.
This site has already been a huge help to me from the troubleshooting area, to the service manuals which I downloaded.

Welcome, that is really low mileage for a 99 model.Should give you many miles of enjoyment. You should change the tires even if they look good, unless sombody already did.As old tires get hard and have dry rot.Good luck!

Here she is just after I took her off the back of the truck.
All she needs is some Mirrors, Clutch and Brake Levers, right foot peg and shifter. The MSF school would strip parts off bike and put them on others when people dropped them. All the parts have been ordered and are on the way.

New tires will be on the way soon, and maybe a paint job next winter. (im pretty handy with a spray gun.)

Is it just me, or does it look like the MSF never even tried to get the brake pedal ANYWHERE near the spec? :??:

You are also missing the bar end weights. They take the vibration out of the handlebars. Oh, and welcome to the forum.

Some people take off the bar end weights to put on different grips.I did,no noticeable vibrations in the bars whatsoever.

not overly concerned about the bar ends. Plus I cant seem to find any to buy. I have checked all the parts manuals and they are not listed on there. I think for know I will just find something to plug the holes.

I went right to it in my dealers parts catalog. $29.55 list for the whole "assembly" .....each.
