Is there any non destructive way to check or test a cable?

Since these have permanently attached ends you can't just pull them out and look at them.

I had a broken throttle cable that looked new on both ends but rusted through in the middle. The previous owners were some what lax on maintenance and let the bike sit outside uncovered in he weather.

If it sat outside, i think i'd just replace them all if one broke already. Better safe than sorry.

Hey Badbob,
Where did you order your cables from?

I ordered my cables from Ron Ayers Motorsports (http://www.ronayers.com/). More because its easy to order from them because they have the IPB online.

One thing I did figure out about testing cables. Remove the cable and drip oil into the cable until it drips out the other end. Hang it vertical so the oil can drain out and let it drip onto some paper or into a clean container. If it is bad rusty on the inside the oil will wash out some of the rust. If you see any rust change the cable.
