When we've had a problem with a vendor we make sure we bash him where ever we go. Well, I have to give some praise to Tourmaster who makes many accessories for the motorcycle crowd. I had bought a 2007 Suzuki GZ250 to learn to ride. I bought it from a guy who bought it for his wife to learn to ride and she didn't want to ride. I got a great deal on it and I love the bike. It came with a leather set of saddle bags made by Tourmaster. Well I went to detach the left bag and the zipper broke rendering the bags useless. I took them off the bike for the time being and emailed Tourmaster. I told them they came with the bike and I'm not the original owner.

They issued me an RMA number and instructed me to ship the over the fender mount back to them and they would take a look. If it could be repaired they would do it or notify me what it would cost.

Today UPS delivers me a brand new set of Tourmaster Nylon (Denier) Cruiser III bags for my bike. These are very well made bags which run about $120 retail. They sent them no charge. I can't believe a manufacturer actually puts the customer first today AND without me even being the original owner. I know I will definitely purchase their bags for my next bike when the time comes. Two cheers for Tourmaster!

:2tup: :2tup: for Tour Master. They do stand behind their products. They sent you some very nice bags when they could done absolutely zip. They sent me a new controller for heated gear when the first one went dead and it only took an E-mail to notify them. Almost an instant reply too.

Nice! Mole, can you post a pic of the bike with those great-looking bags on it? I have the Suzuki bags a friend gave me. They can each hold two whole chickens (not live LOL) and a grapefruit, but the ones you posted look a little bigger capacity. Of course, hard to tell without context. I sure like to hear how the company stands behind its products!

Good deal !!

Now, because the new ones are nylon (or similar) be sure to check the exhaust pipe clearance after you get them mounted. You don't need much but there HAS to be SOME. An inch might be enough.....fully loaded. Some folks have put an aluminum "heat shield" on the bottom of the one bag just to be sure.

I have two pair of tourmaster Caliber pants. Other than I burnt a hole in one, I am very happy with them. (I burnt the hole when I was having stalling troubles and had to push the Geezer out of an intersection. Inside shin touched the end of the tailpipe. [bags may be made from same material as pants, so heed EZ's clearance warning] On a positive note, the burn was limite to the outside layer and I didn't notice it until I say the residue on the pipe. [No burn on my leg.])

The pants have a liner and with the liner out, I can get them over a pair of jeans. I often just wear 'em with a pair of compression shorts. Recently had to drop a few pounds to fit back into them, but Im guessing most of you are familiar with this issue.

Below are some pics. I know for a fact I can get a 1/2 gallon milk container, pound of bacon and a dozen eggs in easily...I did it today. Chickens and grapefruits....hmmmmmm...maybe one chicken in each side and three grapefruits in each side but I'm not going there. lol

They are the same size as the leather ones that came off, Tourmaster lists them as medium. They have plenty of clearance from the tailpipe (and I bent the brackets out a bit to get a bit more). See what you guys think.

Makes her butt look big !!! :crackup

Nice size. Since they get their capacity by being WIDE instead of DEEP, they will add some wind resistance.....probably.

Since they are wide....and you have plenty of vertical clearance from the exhaust....I think I wouldn't want them to flare out any farther than necessary; IE not bend out the brackets.

If you have any extra lengths of mounting straps tucked "safely" away, I suggest that you cut the extra off and seer the ends.....or tie the extra some way that is VERY secure. Getting a loose strap caught in the chain is NOT a good event. (Wonder how I know that.....???)

I like the looks of the new bags a little more than the leather. As for a wide butt, that is good. A better chance of being seen by following traffic. You could also put some reflective material on the bags for more visibility. Some Solas reflective material is made to stick on soft materials.

They look a whle lot better than the stock Suzuki bags. (Wonder how I know that?)

:plus1:

I like 'em too  and think the "big butt" look on the bike could even minimize MY big butt look! ;) I may just have do do some Tourmaster shopping...

Do you need those front and rear straps connecting the bags together? What do they do, keep the bags from flapping around at speed?
Can you attach them to the bag supports for the same purpose and a cleaner install, without rubbing on more painted areas?

I've bought a lot of Tourmaster products over the years: everything from rain gear, gloves, saddlebags, tank bags, tail bags, you name it. I have no experience with their customer service for the simple reason that no product of theirs ever failed, or failed to meet or exceed my expectations. Nuff said.

The straps stabilize the bags so they are needed. I put some of those protectors you can buy for lamps and things in place to protect from rubbing. I guess it's a trade off since the last pair had them also and I assume (there's that word) that they all do.

I like the idea about the reflective tape. I'll have to look into that.

Goggle for ACR Reflective Tape Patch. Should take you to Solas reflective materials. Quite a variety to look at and mull over.

I see that West Marine has it and I have a few West Marine bucks waiting to be spent. Thanks.
