View Full Version : Adjusting Front Brake Lever

Alright, got my rear brake, clutch, mirrors and headlight adjusted. Just can't seem to figure out how to bring that front brake lever closer without engaging it. Currently it's too far out- I can only grasp it with the ends of the first knuckles of three fingers, and can't really cover it at all. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Most of the other bikes I've had have had an adjusting knob on the brake lever. Luckily, the gz's brake lever is fine for me (& I don't have big hands), so all I can think of is that as a new rider you think that you need to get your whole hand round the brake lever. I've just been to check my bike out, because I couldn't think how I gripped the brake lever. I've found that I can just reach over the lever & this stops me just fine. Sometimes I just use a couple of fingers. I really do feel that it's more to do with being a novice rider than a problem with the bike. :)

There is a knob numbered 1 to 4 it gives you a little adjustment.

You have an aftermarket adjustable brake lever. Most bikes do not come with them.

My '99 GZ had it, stock, and it's operation was in the owner's manual.

My bike is a 99 model also. Brake leaver looks stock.

My GZ is 00, and its got the stock levers, and I too have the little 1-4 dial. That being said I do have big hands, being on the taller extreme of riders here, so gripping the lever isn't a problem.

Maybe it might pay to look into some aftermarket option?

G.Z. brake levers from 99 to 01 have the adjusters on them. Will fit newer models with no adjusters. No need for riders with small hands to go to aftermarket trying to find adjustable lever.
