I just got my license and finished my ridercourse. I was wondering if someone could give me an opinion on this bike:

I like Gz250's not just because i learned to ride by using one of these, but the speed and the mileage are just what i need. Thank you for your help.

Looks like it's been rode hard and put away wet. Very blue pipes usually means a poor state of tuning. Cracked and removed (ilo replacing) fender speaks to owners commitment to his bike.
$900 is cheap, but I think it's probably worth less. Caveat emptor.

For a new rider, I'd avoid it like the plague. The last thing you want when you first get a bike is something that's either: a) not going to work when you want it to or b) leave you stranded somewhere. You don't want to buy a first bike that you have to immediately work on. Evaluate your finances and make sure you can afford a decent bike that's plug-n-play for the first 1000 miles you put on it.
Don't forget to factor in the extra $500 for decent riding gear, and general maintenance (oil, chain/sprockets, tires, etc).
I would pass on that bike.
Get one ready to ride.
Hey Sarris, My bike is a 2002, and my pipes are very blue.
When my buddy Ed had his 2006, they never changed color.
I think it is in the years models?? I could always out pull and out run him???

I have a nice 2008 for sale so I have to disqualify myself from the running. Mine has about 4K on it, non-blue pipes, a windshield and bags. It runs well and has not been crashed (yet.) Last asking price on Craig's was $2100. Have a nice tank bag that goes with as well.

I picked up my 2007 GZ250 on 12/31/09 for $1500. It has 2430 miles on it, has saddle bags with guards, windshield, engine guard and is in great shape. Keep looking - there are better bikes out there. Here's a pic of mine.

That's a great price, looks good, and loaded with $450-500 in accessories.
Tilt the windshield back a little more if you can, parallel to the forks. It will work better and increase your gas mileage too.

Just to be clear, mrlmd1 was referencing mole2's bike...not the OPs.
And that is a helluva deal. Congrats Richie.

Patrick's absolutely right, I should've made that clear but I thought everyone would figure it out.
That other bike, if it runs (and you should see all the maintenance records as far as oil changes, brakes, tires, etc,) in it's present state is maybe worth $500 and then you have to put in another $500 or more for fender & paint, chain, muffler repair/replace, maybe brakes and tires and who knows what else, to bring it up to snuff.
If it only would take a "little adjustment" to make it perfect, then why doesn't he do it? Then maybe he could sell it. That lack of interest in fixing it probably relates to poor maintenance, but it has to go because it's the smallest of the 3 he owns? Makes a lot of sense, right?
Don't buy someone else's problem when you can get a good deal on a used bike if you look around a little more.

thanks people. All these comments and advises from a lot of Gz250 owners means a lot to me. I will keep on looking for one. By the way, nice bike that you found, thanks for posting a picture.

Go look on ebay or craigslist for starters. I would prefer ebay, and you can find things like this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... MEWAX%3AIT (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110476016642&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT)
I may be interested in that for myself for something else to play with.

Mrlmd1, I'm not really "into" sport bikes, but that one really looks like a great deal for someone. Free shipping? How can they do that? I thought it cost about $500 to crate up a bike and ship it.

I was just giving you a forinstance of what you can find if you do a little searching. Right now there are some pretty good bargains out there, even from dealers who want to sell new bikes. Sales are down dramatically now and you may even get a good deal on a used bike that at least has been inspected and maybe serviced by them. Bargain, if you don't get the price you want, walk out the door to another dealer and tell them you are going to do that. Don't but anything you have to put money into, except for gas.
