I'll bet that protects your legs! It's MASSIVE! I see from the "marauder" and "Suzuki" logos that your bike is Canadian/European spec. Whereabouts are you - it doesn't say where you are, in the information panel? :2tup:

European, not Canadian. English speaking country of course. It is all a matter of observation Dr. Watson.

Ah, yes Mr. Holmes. On second viewing I can see the licence plate on the car behind (although I wouldn't Know what a Canadian licence plate looks like!) It's not EU either. That would have the blue band on the left hand side only (with the country ID letters on it) & I don't recognize the layout of letters/numbers. :jo:
EDIT - Just googled it! My mistake on the EU plates! This is a French licence plate layout, & the French DO have a blue band on the right hand side, with additional information. :2tup:

The MC bars are well designed and strong. Well worth the $$ involved. Lynda has MC bars on her "M" Suzuki and they look very nice. Also a great place to mount driving lights.

I' m from Italy!
Just done another check - lo and behold the NEW french system is so similar to the Italian that it's almost identical. What I'd missed was that the French system only started this year, so all the plates start with the letter "A".

@alantf: you should became a Private Investigator!
@Water Warrior: MC bars are very strong, you`re right!
Does anybody have some pics of "driving lights"? It would be fantastic to mount them!

Just wanted to see how I could have made such a glaring error! :) Once I'd found out what I'd done wrong, I was satisfied. I just HATE to drop clangers, then not find out why :2tup:

Google to "spaan" then "Accesorios Spaan para motos custom" It's a Spanish company, out of Madrid. You can get their catalogue on line. It's got quite a few goodies for the gz, and bikes in general. With you being in Italy, I reckon your local bike shop should be able to get the parts for you. :2tup:

You have to watch out for what you mount as lights and the current draw - the GZ's electrical output from the alternator will not support much more than the bike itself, unless you want a dead battery.

MC bars on Lynda's M-50. These are cheap lights from Wally World with 20 watt MR 16 halogen bulbs. They are mostly for creating a visible triangle of light for oncoming traffic to see. I would suggest 10 watt bulbs on the GZ to avoid a dead battery. Another option is MR-16 LED's which are presently on my Vstrom as an experiment. They only draw 1.2 watts each and would be even better for the GZ and are more vibration proof than the halogen bulbs. The LED's will not light up the inside of a cow after dark but are quite visible to oncoming traffic. Hope this generates more ideas for you.

Great looking "Crash bars" (engine guards) I wish they had some decent ones that fit my Vulcan 500 but so far I haven't found any except a few "custom" made ones.

Have you tried a Vulcan forum ? Surely some one has found something that would work well without being a custom fit with the extra $$ signs attached.

WW, Yes, seems like all of us Vulcan 500 riders are either going to have to accept the Kawasaki OEM bars, which are pathetic, small and don't even come out as wide as the inside edge of the brake pedal, or go "custom" from some guy who offers to take our money, and drive to Mexico and have a shop there fabricate them to match the ones they did for his Vulcan and then he will ship them to you in a few weeks for several hundred dollars! I just don't feel good about that even though several people have taken him up on it and posted good results. One guy in Europe had pics of his and several people immediately jumped in asking where he got them, but again, he had them custom made locally and it cost a bunch. Apparently Scootworks has been "teasing" Vulcan owners for years with a waiting list for some really nice looking ones that they "might" have available in the future, but several guys on the forum said they've been on that list for over two years and when they call about it Scootworks says they still haven't decided if they will ever do it. Wish we could find the manufacturer scootworks is supposedly thinking of dealing with and we could try to buy them direct. The units Scootworks shows pictures of look great and very similar to the guy in Europe's set, much nicer lines than the ones from the Mexico "connection" but no idea where they came from.

Just a wild a$$ suggestion here about custom bars. Do you know anyone working in a muffler shop. Ask him if he would like a project. Bending pipes to your specs and welding on mounting flanges to fit the bike might be worth worth a try. Painting the pipes would be cheaper than chrome. Anybody else with custom ideas out there ?

If I get decent in the machine and welding shop here at school maybe I'll just fabricate my own bars. I found a local company that does chrome plating, but they are not cheap!

Make up some extras and sell them unfinished. Let the buyer choose his/her finish.

Sounds like SPAAN are paying me to advertise for them, but I've just looked in their catalogue, & they do a great one for the Vulcan 500. Are you sure you can't persuade a dealer to get them for you? Or it may be a cheaper (?) option to find out how much they will charge to ship them to you. The ones for the gz were roughly €100 ($150?) so I reckon the Vulcan ones will be roughly the same price, but I don't know what the shipping costs would be. :2tup:

alantf, thanks for the connection, I checked out their website, wish I could read Spanish, and the bars look a lot better than the OEM ones from Kawasaki. Do you know
if they have an English Translated Website? I was unable to get past the language barrier and therefore unable to find out anything about pricing or ordering or dealers
that I could order through.

Won't Google do a translation for you? If not, if you use firefox, you can get an add-on translator tool. I've got "translator (fixed") so that if I get a load of Spanish I can translate it quicker than trying to work it out in my head. :2tup:
It's strange that the American dealers can't get them, because there's an American licence plate holder in the catalogue. And it can't be for anything BUT an American plate, as the European plates are a completely different size.

I will give it another shot, when I asked it to translate it said something about it being to much to translate and wouldn't do it, I'll try a different translator tool and see how it goes, or maybe I'll get Jose' from my Science and Technology group to try and translate it for me.

Better still, get José to phone (0034) 916 68 08 83, or e-mail correo@customspaan.com for you. This'll put you through to Tecnoimport S.L. at Calle Tajo Nº 3, 28840, Mejorada Del Campo, Madrid. These are the distributors,so they should be able to help you. :2tup:
Note :- there are parts for the Vulcan 500 CL, & the Vulcan 500 EN, so check the catalogue before you order! :)
