Just a few shots of our ride yesterday. Really gotta love this world and the sites and scenery. As usual I had to have a shot of Duffy Lake and this time the lighting was a bit better.

Great shots WW! I mounted mine on the handlebar and shot some video while motoring around the local countryside, yesterday. A group of us will be riding up and down the coast next weekend. I hope I can capture some good shots, like yours, of our trip.

Thank you. I really have to try for a camera mount set-up before too long. My main problem is mounting so the camera sees more road and a lot less bike. I did fashion a sweetheart of a mount but the camera was too low. The bottom half of the pic was all bike with windshield hardware sticking up. It will come to me somewhere sometime at the oddest moment.

Yep. My windshield is tinted and I wanted a clearer view so I removed it for my first trials. I get just the top edge of the speedo in the frame so you can see the needle go by as I pass through 60-80kph. I'm working on a different one that holds the camera somewhere underneath the clutch lever.
Remember, keep your mind on the road!!!
Cheers,
Gary

Did a little experimenting today for a short time. Put the small OEM windshield on and tried a camera mount system. Used only what I already had handy so the cost was zip. A little velcro, spare windshield mounting hardware and a modded(read hacksaw)piece of actual camera equipment that was never used in 20 years.

Results from today's experimental camera mount system. Do believe I had some bad settings on the camera so it could hopefully be better. Not very photogenic conditions out there either. Quite windy and the small windshield didn't help. Back to the drawing board.

Nice and very simple looking mounting.
And photo results seems very good.
Any problem with video??
>> then you may try to add some short bunge code (or velcro) to MIRROR.
What I meant is, mirror will be shaken (vibrated) not only by engine vibration but also by in-coming wind when go faster.
So, at the top (bottom of the mirror base) add some vibration demper >> string, bunge code, or velcro... etc
>> then tighten down to the somewhere fairing or body frame >> some high tension might needed.
>> this will reduce some high frequency of mirror vibration >> FROM My Own Experience.. ha ha ha

Thanks for the hints Busy. First, back to the larger shield and determine how much wind there is and go from there.

I just wanted to share my little camera experience from this last week of camping with the family. I have a Sony Cyber-Shot, nothing fancy but it basically point and shoot for the family it works. Well I put it in a storage tote away from the rain we had, only to have the dish rag and soap leak all over it! I pulled the battery and memory card out immediately and didn't even try and turn it on. There was a small amount of water leaking out of it and there was water floating behind the LCD screen but the battery wasn't wet. It sat in the sun for 2 days like that and fogged up pretty good but didn't dry. When I got home I put it in a bag of rice for less than 24 hours and it was completely dry. I put the battery in it and it works great! I had always heard that if you put a water logged electronic (mostly cell phones) in a bag of rice that the rice would pull the moisture out but I had never really seen it happened until now! There are just a few dried water spots on the LCD but it works perfectly!

On a side note, there is a ski resort on Vancouver Island that just received more snow than their combined 30 year history. A report on the TV showed drifts covering 2nd story windows.

For folks not in a snow belt location the snow can be a bit of a treat and a change from the norm. Having grown up and spending 60 years in Edmonton Alberta I don't relish a cold snowy winter anymore. Been here in Squamish for 5 years with little to no snow fall with temps that don't get below freezing for too long. Much more to my liking as I get older and more of a wuss. If I "need" a snow fix I can always drive up to Whistler just North of here and see lots of snow up close and personal.
The mountains around Squamish have snow at higher elevations all winter and some remains year round so we have continuous snow melt feeding the rivers and streams.

It's not that warm here in Florida on the beach right now - for the past three days it's been 20-25 at night, 45-55 during the day, but supposed to get up to 65-70 again in the next few days. Cold, but not as bad as where you guys are, and no friggin snow, don't need the Desert Storm Hummer I had in NJ down here to get around.

Guess I'm going to call this one "Capturing the magic of Disney". I usually don't do scenery much, because i suck at it. While at Disney 2 years ago, i shot probably 2000 photos in a week. Took the normal vacation pictures, but i also wanted to capture Disney ... without the crowds, without workers or people. These are the ones i think best fit that category. Was hard picking and choosing which ones .. because i dont do scenery much and am very critical of my work at times. So .. here they are.
