Hello fellow GZ'ers, tough situation here. I gave the dealer the key code. They said my next step is to remove the ignition to get that code. I wonder why the Vin # alone does not give the correct info.
Waiting to contact Suzuki direct. Beautiful weather, and I can't ride.
Any suggestions from anyone that has lost a key?
Yea go to a locksmith that has experience with motorcycles. He should have a key made in about 15 minutes. Then take said key back to the dealership and ask why they cant do it that quickly.

Think about it, if all you needed was the Vin#, someone could walk up to your bike, write down the vin#, then they could go to the dealership and get a key to your bike. Not only that, what if the ignition has been changed out on your bike, then they would be giving you the wrong key if they went by the Vin#.
But I am with Dupo on this one, a locksmith can make you a key in no time flat.

Thanks Dupo, -nice bike you have; and Music Man. That's probably the best suggestion, especially if the locksmith does not have to change out the ignition.

If you can't start it or unlock the fork of the bike, don't forget the locksmith has to come to you. :retard:

I lost the key to my GW a few months ago and had to find the key code. The dealer said it was exactly for that reason, so that no one could just walk up, get the vin #, and have a key made. If you can get to the lock for the seat, that would probably have the code stamped on it, and be easier to get to.
