How have the evil administrators been treating everyone in my absence? :)

Except for Dupo dismissing any bike smaller than his as a "toy".........(which is nothing new).......
we've been doing pretty good. A few bruises occasionally but everybody is still standing.....or riding, as the case may be. :)

We seem to be evolving into an ex-GZ riders group with a few actual owners mixed in for good measure.

So.....where have YOU been? We have missed you.......but not much!

Have you moved on from the GZ as well?

I spent a little time over on the scooter forums, learning everything there is learn about scooters. After about a week of that, and realizing that there just isn't the same type on comraderie on those forums, I've been focusing on the family and some sappy love issues involving my sister-in-law and her swooning over boys. BLEGH! My wife keeps joking with me that we'll be ready when our kids are teenagers...

Anyway, I basically use the chinese bike forums to buy and sell crap parts. (They're not really all that bad. I'm just playing along with the stereotype that anything out of Chinaland is junk.) And I've been riding my bike (bicycle) more often, which gets me talking to a whole other crowd of people all together. They have everything from the "freecycle" whackos that live on left overs that they find in the garbage bins to the uber elitese cyclists that drive their suburban 400 miles so they can ride ofr 30 minutes on a famous trail.
Actually, come to think of it, they are a lot like you guys...

Yes they are! - At least the Lanvertti brand is (from personal experience). I had so many problems that the dealer gave me my money back, & I got the gz. What dealer would give you your money back if the bike wasn't total shite? After my experience he stopped selling Chink crap.

Yeah, from experience the good and the bad out of china have a LOT do with the "brand" that they are coming from. I've heard horror stories about Tank and PEACE motors. I have a ChuanL, which is under the Lifan company. They have a pretty good rep.

I've logged 1,500 absolutely worry free miles on the scooter. I even hit the interstate yesterday. That was .... fun ....

With Lanvertti, the engines are the only good thing. They buy in the motors from Yamaha, Honda etc., when they make the clones. The problem is that the Chinese made parts that go round the engine are of the worst quality imaginable.

Jonathan,

First rule about evil administrators: Don't talk about evil administrators.

Also, I thought you'd like to know - in one of the first Scooter vs Harley smashups I've seen in the OC Register ("we'll show you a motorcycle accident everyday. Promise.").... Scooter wins!

The comments are enlightening. Seems to be a lot of Harley rider haters out there.

Speak for yourself. I still own and ride my GZ.

You back for some time, Jonathan? Or just breezing through?

I'd like to say that I am back for some time, but I'll probably just end up teasing you....

It's difficult to hang around when there isn't much that I can contribute anymore. I enjoyed filling in information gaps. I can't do that anymore because I don't even remember most of the particulars about the bike.

I can always swing in and throw important posts off topic and give false information to the new-comers.

Alan,
Any update on who was at fault there?

It's a well known fact that mass (*) speed of a scooter under 250cc is equal to the porportional gravity of any harley, therefore rendering them virtually indesctructable. Their only weakness seems to be Chineseum metal alloys which fail somewhere around 5,000 miles. At that point, they can't even be on the road, so their ability to the hit by cars and/or Harleys is further diminshed.

Well it was two women riders so they are still trying to figure out the math. The most popular theory so far is target fixation. (Real answer: OCR rarely follows up on MC accident reports unless someone dies later, or someone prominent died [like the owner of Mission Motorsports, where I got my Strat.] There is always a fresh one to report on.)

Except for Dupo dismissing any bike smaller than his as a "toy".........(which is nothing new).......

You're such a dick .... you take every dam thing out of context and twist it into your own words then whine over and over, thread after thread about it. Grow the fuck up.

Do i jump into your threads saying you are a close minded, anti modification, quiet pipe riding fuck? NO. I 'did' have some respect ... but the hell with that now.

One last time .... are you paying attention .... MY OPINION is that the GZ felt like a toy and i MOVED ON. My other OPINION when people are looking to move up is to move up to something bigger, not something slightly bigger with a 10mph overall gain. I offer my OPINION ... if they take it fine, if they dont, fine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If it wasn't for the fact you started your bullshit over at shadowriders forum about loud pipes and got ran off the forum for your shitty attitude .... you would have been ran off for just being fucking annoying.

I've never in my 10 years of hosting various forums ran across someone so childish as you!! Never has someone disrespected me in the way that you do (that i didnt ASK for intentionally, and boy theres been times..the stories i could tell).

I pay for this site out of my own pocket .. to the tune of $120 a year! YOU make it rather hard the first of every month to keep shelling out for this forum knowing dam well you try your damnest to out cast me whenever you can. Yes, people donate, but lately, its been rather dry. I've been laid off for a very long time ... work is very hard to find around here and honestly, the wife has been paying the tab for the past few months. When i have the extra, i pay it, but it hasnt been easy justifying the importance of keeping the payments up for the hosting with this going on lately.

Sorry everyone .... tired of holding it in. :cuss:  :pissed: :redflip:

Same here. That's why I came in and started this post.

It's good to leave a place only to come back and see that not much has changed. :)

It's like going on vacation and then coming home and seeing that the only thing different is that we got a new Sonic.
Only, this Sonic has some foul-mouthed car-hops.

I wish we had White Castle...but I more wish we had In and Outs.

I see we have morphed into "places I love to go with unhealthy food that tastes so good..." No White Castles near me in CA, and Sonics are around, but sparse - but I drive by an In 'N Out everyday. Personally I think Ruby's diner makes a much better burger than any of those places, but to each his own. There's another place out here called Tommy's (aka Tommy Burger) that sort of epitomizes the draw of junk food: It takes a weak burger, adds a slice of tomato and covers the whole thing in questionable chili and... man does it taste good! Add an order of fries drowned in the same crappy chili and you are about as close to heaven as anybody is really going to get. (In more ways than one!)

Southern California seems to have more chains of fast food than anywhere I've been. From Popeyes, to Chik Fil A to Carl's Jr. To Jack In the Box, to Farmer Boys, Bob's Big Boy, Baha Fresh, El Pollo Loco, Johnny Rockets, Fatburger, well, I could go on for pages. A good place to ride and dine.

Our newest restaurant is Chili's.

We have devoted so much attention to building up our "interestate roadside appearance" that the best places to eat here at all locally owned. We bring in big name restaurants that get great initial patronage by our sheepish town folk and then quickly flounder into a heaping pile of rotting fish carcass.

The most recent example of this was Fudruckers and Starbucks (although the SB closing was part of the nationwide corporate decision.) If you want anything better than a Western Sizzlin' steak in Dalton, you had better travel north, to Chattanooga.
