Im thing of buying a 2008 gz250 with 700 miles on it. It has a ticking noise that sounds like its coming from the valves. Is this normal for this bike. I searched on here and a few other places on the net and some people are saying that it is normal. But it seems a little too loud to be normal. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance.

But it seems a little too loud to be normal.
What exactly leads you to believe that ??
It probably is normal.
Ask the present owner if he has had the 600 mile service done; if not, subtract about $250 from his asking price.
If he has a receipt that shows the valves were checked......or you can verify that with the place that did it......then don't worry about it. The little devils ARE kind of noisy.

All the other bikes that I have been around never made a noise this loud. Im not sure if its just a gz250 thing. The bike runs great. Im not sure if the 600 miles service was done on it. He has nothing to prove that it was done.

Well, WE can't be sure either......since we can't HEAR your particular bike.
I CAN tell you that the GZ is one of the noisier engines I have seen over 40 years.
Being a single cylinder and air cooled has a lot to do with it, I think.
Did you actually ASK the present owner about the 600 service ??
What exactly did he say ??
Why would you not be able to verify it with whomever actually DID the work ??
I wish "we" could help you more and maybe others will chime in but............ the only way you are going to prove anything is to take it to a dealer or another GZ owner to have THEM listen to it.

I asked him about the service. He said it was done but that dealer is 2000 miles away from me. He moved with the bike to were Im at now. Would a valve out of adjustment make any noise? Thanks for all the help. I now its hard to say anything without hearing the bike. Maybe I could make a video and post it on you tube so you can hear it.

If the present owner can't verify the valve check you would be wise to have them checked after/if you buy the bike. It isn't really a big deal $ wise but would provide peace of mind. Just deduct the price of a 600 mile service from the asking price in your area. Have the dealer do the whole check and be happy.

A phone call to THAT dealer would be cheap or free......or a quick visit to a local dealer, likewise probably free if they just listen.
A recording probably wouldn't help much; you have to BE there to get the right perspective.
