Been reading this forum prior to purchasing my 2009 GZ250, bought it a little over a month ago. Have put almost 350 miles on it so far. Just recently passed the MSF course. This is my 3rd bike, first was a '72 Kawasaki 350 (S2) 3 cylinder, then a Honda CB450. I'm dating myself, as the GZ was an early 60th birthday gift from my wife. Love the bike so far along with my loving wife. Hope to add to this forum and would love to find a biking buddy in my area. Have installed saddle bags w/rack and rack bag so far. Will post picture of bike and myself soon. FYI-Picked up bike for $3399.00 + Tax etc. Any other senior citizens out there?

Alan, what's the word on your bike? How long before you're back in the saddle?

Sorted out the brake pedal yesterday. Also managed to straighten the headlamp bracket (sort of). The guy at the bike shop put a piece of scaffolding pole on the handlebars & got them nearly straight (he couldn't straighten them perfectly, as he was afraid of snapping them) He also gave me the engine guard (scuffed) that he swapped last week, so I fitted that yesterday. He's ordered new bars & a new headlamp bracket, but they'll take a fortnight (two weeks!) to get here. In the meantime, the bikes now ridable, so I'm off out to try it out this morning (it's 10 a.m. over here)

One more thing. The mechanic obviously didn't know what he was doing when he replaced the bar ends last week! When I took them off, yesterday, to straighten the long bolts, the two old nuts fell out of the bars. It seems like it's not only the newbies on this site that don't know how to do it.

Forgot :- He also gave me the exhaust (muffler?) that the insurance company didn't want back, so now I've got a spare in case I want to alter the existing one.

Edit - I've been down to the local town, & the bike's riding great. It must be my imagination, but it feels like the bump has "loosened" everything up, & it feels smoother than it did before.

Being new to the forum, aren't some of the posts above "off" subject, or is just me? :??:

Very perceptive. You picked up on that rather quickly. :)

"Things" here are rather loose and, as long as it is not disruptive, threads often DO go off topic a bit.

There are just so many things one can say about a single model of small bike, after all.

And when you refer to "posts above", not everybody is looking at the same list, depending on how they choose to view the messages !!

So, was your post a question, comment or complaint?

We tend to stray from time to time. Nothing to worry about though.

And if you will notice at some point we wander back on subject just as fast as we wandered off :retard: .

This is a common thing. Jonathan dropped his and it ran better. Weird.

He discusses it here: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=70&p=11945#p11945 (http://www.gz250bike.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=70&p=11945#p11945)

Welcome to the fold, New GZ250. I dunno how long you plan on keeping that bike, but let me know if you want to change that username when it's no longer "New"...
