Not a deserter, but just get close. Just bought TU250 last night. Haven't ridden since '73 (yes my numbers are correct.) So I'm really looking forward to it. Was not sure which came first, the chicken or the egg, so I got the bike, and in 2 or 3 weeks, I'll get my "M" endorsement on my drivers license.

Years ago I rode Honda Trail 90, Yamaha GT1, and Honda CL350 - probably 80% off the road.

Have had many hobbies in the past, but most exciting one is that built 90% of a 36 foot sailboat, and sailed for 6 years to 39 nations.

My hobbies now are an RV and many Radio Controlled planes.

Really sike out on getting back on 2 wheels.

Joined this forum just to get caught up on biking of the 250 bike.

Welcome Bill. We are always glad to have new comers and returning riders. You will be the first member with a TU 250 and we all are waiting for riding impressions and your opinion of a small displacement FI engines. If you know anyone with a GZ then maybe you could do a comparison for us.

Welcome on board! (I am new to this forum too) Great bike you bought, I would of seriously looked at one if they were sold here in California. They do not meet the Air Resources Board requirements. Love the classic looks. As for your CL350, I road a CL450 a bit. Not really an off road bike back then, they just called it one. They basically had side pipes, and were the same as the CL model. Not too easy to ride off road. Looks like you might be a "senior" rider like me. I just began riding after a many years being off the saddle too. Got my M1 license about a week ago.

They do not meet the Air Resources Board requirements.

Well, now that's an interesting tidbit of news. The general consensus opinion, on here at least, is that the TU would REPLACE the GZ because the FI design could comply with the new regs. and the carb'ed GZ could not.
Maybe they both will survive.

My dealer hasn't seen a TU yet.

There's one(TU 250) in my dealers showroom as of last week. Great looking bike! I got to sit on it and the foot pegs are right under the seat, didn't really care much for that setup, I felt like I was "perched" on the seat. If I was 5'6" instead of 6'1" it would probably have been okay, but that killed it for me. Those foot pegs are actually behind the oil view window on the motor, why they put them so far back I don't understand, maybe it's supposed to make you lean forward over the gas tank or something.

Putting the pegs directly below the seat/rider is the classic "Sit up and Beg" position that is actually better for your back and allows more body english when riding. My Vstrom is like that and I do like it. The sit up position also allows you to stand on the pegs when needed.

I have a tu250 too. It is a blast to ride. I got it about a week ago. I am always looking for an excuse to get out and ride.

I saw that a lot of other motorcycles have forums and groups dedicated to them and I thought this new bike could use a start.
