View Full Version : Taking the rider test...
I want to get my licence (currently on permit). The safety course is booked up for months, which im going to take but i would like to get my licence in the meantime. What all is involved with the road test for a motorcycle? I'd rather go prepared than not. :2tup:

Of course, it depends on the state. But in Oregon, since all motorcycle riders also have a drivers license, you only need to demonstrate skills in the parking lot. Moving around cones and demonstrating that you have enough control to stop in a designated area (not overshooting or undershooting).
I think you might also need to show that you know the parts of your bike (where's the brake, clutch, etc.).
Dupo just wanted to know if you have taken the riders test yet? I am on a learners permit also. I dont want any suprises if i can practice before i get there.
Nope not yet. When i want to go do it something keeps coming up. Sooner or later before the year is out i will be going to get it though.

I was in the same boat. The Motorcycle Rider Course was completely filled through March (ouch!). So I decided to just show up on location and wait to see if there were any no-shows. On my very first attempt I was in! I was so happy, my friend at work was salty...he has been trying for months to get in. I just tried a bit harder. I would recommend calling and finding out what their policy on walk-ins are. You may luck out like me. give it a try, you never know.

There were two no shows in my class. Apparently, this is fairly common occurrence.
