So I chopped everything that wasn't absolutly necessary off my bike and probably lightened it about 80 lbs, maybe more. It's got a more aggressive riding postion (forward foot controls removed), meaner sounding exhaust, and much better ground clearance and overall performance.
Performance mods include a chopped exhaust and a shimmed needle. The small cap on the end of my pipe is to provide some backpressure so I could get a good air-fuel mixture.
So maybe it ain't pretty, but it's damn fun to ride.

I was so close to having the first CAFE RACER on this site, oh well! Soon I will post new pics of my GZ with taller rear shocks, 18" f+r wheels, and relocated foot controls, maybe with just the shocks for now! Try adding another shim for the mid range circuit and going to a 150 main jet( currently I'am running a 200) with no airbox or add a direct mount K/N filter for a 52mm I.D. mount. I'am using this with a dunstal style pipe with fiberglass packing. The bike has power now and a headturning sound. Oh yeah the pilot circuit is best left stock, tried to enrichen and it ran awfull. Looks good and its cool to see another going in the other direction in modding, NATE

Awesome, can't wait to see pics. I thought my bike would sound high-pitched and poppy without the muffler but the GZ really roars on acceleration. I still have to do some tweaking with my mixture, and I'm considering moving up to a 150 but I have to wait for this snow to melt first ;)... I found modding is a great way to pass the winter, Good luck with your project!
