Hey people, I am new to the site, just bought the girlfriend an 02 GZ 250, she loves it, not ready to ride yet, schedule for motorcycle safety course tho. If anybody has parts for sale I would be interested in mirrors and windshields in excellent condition.

Have you looked at ebay yet? Some good deals there. Windshield, most use the spitfire which runs about $60.

Welcome to the site. That was a nice gift for your girlfriend. Glad to hear she is going to take the safety course. Probably the best first purchase you all can make.
There are not too many parts available just for the GZ250 but mirrors and windshield aftermarket parts should not be a problem. I just installed a spitfire on my wifes GZ250 and she is pleased with how it blocks the wind and looks good. I only need to tweek it a little more for a perfect fit.

Cheers!

I installed the spitfire windshield on mine last week and it is great.
You can get them at ebay from MAWonline. Just do a search for
Slipstreamer S-06 Spitfire Windshield with 7/8
this fits the gz250 and it goes on in minutes. got mine plus shipping for less than $55.00.

I have a like new Slipstreamer S-06 Spitfire windshield, it's clear, I had on my GZ250 for about two months. I'll sell it for $55.00, I think that should cover shipping as well.

Hey BadMojo, Does that winshield have any scratches at all on it? Does it come with the brackets?

I'm sorry I should have posted actual pictures. I just got home from work and made a quick post. Here is a picture of what I have. Brackets, yes, scratches, two or three hairline bug splatters (normal wear), not noticeable until you put your face up to it, I had to really look hard. Hope these help, the lines in the middle are flash reflection, I'm not very good at taking pics.

Hey badmojo, you get rid of the 250 or just dont like the windshield. Where in southwestern Ill. do you live? I used to be stationed at Scott AFB and my dad used to live in Marissa (coal miner).

Davidc83 - I used to be stationed at Scott, too, back in 1987 until 1990. Used to toss darts at Gillian's - I think that was the name of the place, anyway.

dang, I was stationed there between 82-90. I used to go to Gillians also, plus the vfw outside the south gate, plus a couple of places in fairview heights (mainly bars in the hotels) plus a place in Lebanon, plus a couple of places in Belleville. small world.
Which unit was you assigned? I worked in the Medical Center in the laboratory, mostly evenings (6 of the 8 years).

I live in O'Fallon, just about 10 miles from Scott. I'm retired US Coast Guard. I have two daughters in the Air Force, one son in the Army and another in the Marine Corps. I sold my GZ250 and currently ride a Yamaha V Star 650. I have a pic here http://www.gz250bike.com/viewtopic.php?t=230

I know O'Fallon. One of the first cities in the country to have a Sam's club, a Hyandai dealership. I have a son also in the Army, currently stationed at Ft. Stewart in Georgia. I didnt know any Coast Guard was stationed out of scott back in the 80's. Saw a lot of other branches. I think they ruined Scott by placing that stupid MidWestern Airport there. A waste of taxpayers money. They spent $20 million to renevate the enlisted housing, 5 years latter, level it to build a civilian airport which nobody uses.
To keep this on a motorcycle theme, Nice bike. Before I bought my gz250 (actually talked the wife into letting me), I was looking at the Suzuki 650 (S40?), but a guy I worked with bought it.

I was actually stationed in St Louis and lived at Scott (Wherry Housing). I shopped around for a new bike and considered many. I finally decided on the V Star because it felt like an extension me much like my GZ. I didn't like the other configurations, i.e. crotch rocket, I couldn't see myself bent like that for extended periods between stops. I think most modern bikes are built somewhat the same, it basically comes down to comfort and personal likes.
**My kids are all in the sandbox, they check in often to let me know they are OK.

my kid is expecting to go to the sandbox in September. He spent two years in rice paddies, 2 years at Ft. Knox, now at Stewart. Yea, i lived in Wherry Housing, before and after the renovation. I got my only hole in one on that golf course, the 170 yard #5 (?). Actually nice base to live on, traffic not too bad, nice neighborhoods.

I think my next bike will be the Kawasaki KLR650. I do like dual-sports.

Hey all

I just bought a 2002 gz250. My first working bike in 18 years. I am currently restoring a 78 yamaha xs750 that I truly found in a horse barn. I am looking forward to some warm weather so I can take it out.
