Can anybody help an old guy who's just about found where the computer on/off switch is?

When I look down the posts, & somebody is answering a point, I sometimes see a box which says " ****** Wrote" & then there's a copy of the bit that they're replying to. To me this is magical & mysterious, & I would love to make it happen in MY replies.

O.k. - question - How do I make it happen? Like I said before, when I asked a computer question - Make it idiot proof.

Thanks, Alan.

Click on the "Quote" button in the upper right hand corner of the post you want to reply to. That will take you to the reply box, but it will have the entire quote in it. You can then delete out the portion(s) of the quote that are not relevant (but make sure you don't delete out the code at the beginning or end of the quote, and make sure your reply is not within the quote itself). BTW, I would have just sent this to you personally, but I think there may be others who could benefit from seeing this.

Don't feel bad - I've been working with computers for almost 20 years and I missed that, too, when I first started replying to posts.

Click the "quote" button in the upper right corner of the post. It may be you are just nearsighted, not illiterate.

You can also edit the text down from the original post as long as you preserve the correct start and end encoding.

Click the "quote" button in the LOWER RIGHT corner of the post. It may be you are just nearsighted, not illiterate.

Now THAT is interesting.
What browser are you using?
For me, it IS in the upper, right corner and is rather prominent too.

Easy,

It's in the UPPER RIGHT. At least mine is. (I use IE) My original post, which I immediately corrected, said upper left. I've developed a habit of throwing my reply up there with quick reply and then editing it.

Moe posted his message whilst I was editing the LEFT to say RIGHT, but for some reason changed upper to lower. (He edited my original message.) I have always had trouble with left and right. Have to think of the piano for some reason to get it straight. Some things take me a while to learn, some I never get.

There are two active profiles...one has it in the upper right, one has it in the lower right.

Make sure you're arguing about the same thing...you could BOTH be right.

What in God's name did I just say?

I'm using Yahoo's browser. For me it's lower right.

No. Your browser has nothing to do with it. You're using GlossyBlue for your forum template, when 95% of everyone else is using eTech.

There appear to be THREE active profiles, TWO with the button in the lower right.

Oh my God! Patrick is the Anti-Easy!

Kinda slow on the uptake sometimes, huh, Alan ?

OK, so maybe this needs a little clarification:

I imagine Patrick was glad to see you (Alan) come on the scene so I would have somebody else to pick on besides HIM !!

Glad to be of service. I hope the weather improves in Siberia, I mean Illinois, soon so you can get back out on your bike and away from the computer.
