View Full Version : January riding
Caught a nice day here in East Tn. By this picture, you probably know the name of this road. [attachment=0:2hhgxpxj]IMG_1484.JPG[/attachment:2hhgxpxj]

Oh my you are breaking my heart with that pic. Was in Tn in June of 2007 and rode the Dragon on a rented KLR 650. Beautiful countryside and wonderful folks. Many happy memories of that trip.

I'm surprised there's not at least 2 cops in that picture, considering the way the Dragon has been lately.

Welcome sir. My youngest brother lives over in Raleigh and my sister in law is in Tenn. I hope to ride out that way some day on a cross country adventure.
Yea, it is 42 miles from my house to the store. There was plenty of Enforcement this year.
We changed our regular rides to TWO. Nice folks and good roads.
Two Wheels Only is about 130 miles one way.
I have a PC 800 and the 2002 GZ.
I like them both.
My GZ is bone stock except for a reworked Silverwing shield.
It will do 75 to 80 every time I get on it.

Look like Tail of the the Dragon. Haven't been there, but since I live in north Georgia I am thinking about it. How was the GZ250 on that road?
Did you ride it in two directions?
How do you do it? Do you ride it one direction and then the other direction? Are there motels in that area?

Yes there is a motel at the store.
Robbinsville NC is about 18 miles away.
Google for Cherola Skyway. A must do ride.
Do you ever ride to Blood Mountain or TWO, Murphy NC ????
I have no problems running on these roads. Just go WOT..

Wow, when I was there it was standing room only. Of course it was also the July 4th weekend.
Also want to recommend some really nice folks and fellow riders. Jack and Lori Hunt. They are the owner/operators of Hunt's Motorcycle Lodge and Campground. Great place for travellers, reasonable rates and just outside of Tellico Plains Tn.
Hey Water Warrior,
Most of the Tellico people are really helpful to the bikers.
Tourist $$$$ are needed to keep small towns alive.
I hope you enjoyed what we call our local roads.

Beautiful little town. Ate a couple times in a local diner that was even better than home. A couple older Ladies served us and we almost wanted to hug them and call them Mom. Ditto for the tourist center. Great folks. Your roads are nice to bikers too. Not really chewed up from frost heaves and pot holes that I grew up on in the prairies of Canada.
Tennessee has some of the smoothest roads around the southeast area.
Sounds like you took it all in and had fun.

Not nearly enough. Shoulda, coulda stayed a lot longer and kept the rented bike up and running. Was fun getting lost a couple times and seeing unplanned roads and areas.
This was only about 6 miles from Tellico Plains,
Bald Creek Falls.

Well it got up to 49 here today.
Got the GZ out and did a 50 mile loop.
Temp was not as bad as the wind.
All in all a nice little outing. :ride:
