i was wondering for a long time to ask this question. do we ever need to clean the carbon from the inside of the exhaust pipe. is ther einside anything that needs to be cleaned ever?

back home the motorcycle shops used to clean the exhaust from my Yamaha with kerosene oil, like washing from inside with kerosene oil and at the back (muzzle) of the exhaust there used to be a muffler. They used to remove the nuts and pull the muffler out (8-10 inches long), again clean it with kerosene oil and wrap a piece of foam on one side and insert back. This muffler is there to suppress the noise. Running without the muffler makes a terrible loud noise.

What they were pulling out was the baffle. The foam 'wrap' was the fiberglass which needed to be replaced every x amount of time/miles or it would just get louder and louder as it got older.

No, there is nothing like that in the GZ, nor does it have to be cleaned.

Man i love those terrible loud noises :smallrawk: :ride: VROOOM

I yanked my baffles long ago (yes, i know, vtwin vs gz - big difference)

:plus1:

Nor is there "anything like that" on any modern "road" bike.
The bike you had before was likely a 2-cycle, off-road or dual-purpose, right ??

yes, it was a 2 stroke, with oil in the side compartment. gives out a little smoke also :)

Thanks no such cleaning is needed in GZ.
