View Full Version : What im pondering getting as a 'toy'
This is my new passion. I think i may order one of these come tax season in a few months...
Kikker Hardknock 5150..
70mph 200cc street legal 'pocket bikes'. These things are just too cool. $1500 base price ... looks like the one i want with certain options is going to run me about 2300 bucks.

Looks like fun, but it seems like the sort of thing you would "upgrade" to a GZ from... no? Looking at the various elements, from tires to suspension to fork to gas tank, it has a little less of everything.

FWIW, I wholeheartedly agree with Alan here. (Why do I keep saying that??)
These are barely pit-bikes and I couldn't even imagine spending over two effing grand on one, much less actually riding safely anywhere. Those videos certainly don't inspire confidence in the performance, or safety. Honestly, for $2300 you can pick up a good condition, relatively low-mileage, 250 or 500cc bike (sport OR cruiser). Hell, there's a 250 Nighthawk for $1600 in Reading (http://reading.craigslist.org/mcy/878721136.html) right now. There's even a badass KLR 650 (http://reading.craigslist.org/mcy/878605885.html) down that way for $2K.
I mean, damn it man, you've got your Shadow already for a project bike. If you're looking for just something to putt around on, then snag up another small-displacement motorcycle and leave these hyped-up, WAY-overpriced toys to the squiddly tweeners annoying everyone on the block like they did the year before on their electric Razor scooters.
Just my 2ยข though.

2000 Moto Guzzi VII JACKAL 1100-- $3000
But I'm thinking more on the lines of this for a toy...

ST1100 --$3000 to $6000
Course I gotta save a bit longer for this! Hey...to each his own!

I saw a toy up close yesterday. The one I saw was 100 cc, kicker, and jockey shift and was painted just like the one you posted. It's cute but only about 5/8 scale. It would be a bit small for a guy my size. It looks Chinese (?)

I think the key here is Dupo said he wants it as a toy. I think it is a great toy. I have only seen one up close but it looked like it would be a blast to ride and tinker with. I would stick with the base price though.
And Dupo.....you can look forward to that first kick back to the shin! :)
Graydog is right, its a TOY, not another motorcycle. If i wanted another motorcycle i'd pick up a ninja or something to rip around with to have something 'different'. I just want something like this for fun and the 'wtf is that' factor. Something to take to small local bike nights.
I'm still undecided on it ... just thought i'd throw it out there and see what you all thought. I think they are really neat looking and could be fun to customize. My buddy and i were talking and both said ... it needs to be stretched 6" in the frame. Something he could definetly do for me (he said he might even pick one up to mess with too).

Too much chatter from the front end, not enough play in the rear and the under carraige gets loose over time, not to mention the top end, boy will that ever let you down!
Oh im going to catch hell from the 2 women on the site, lol.
