I did a half hearted search to make sure this bad idea hadn't been floated before. It probably has, but I didn't see it right away so I'll forge ahead:

1) We plan a GeeZee2009 rally.
2) Maybe a two day thing - party the night before, road trip somewhere day of, eat, leave.
3) Locate it at the exact center of all of the dots on the location map.
4) Rent or buy Dupo a qualifying bike.
5) Sarris can trailer his bike.
6) Moe and I can ride out with the Lakewood chicks, two up. We'll leave right now so we get there on time.
7) We have prizes for "Fattest Ass", "Coolest Useless Accessory", "Most Disease Ravaged Skank" and so on. You can win synthetic MC motor oil or some carb cleaner.
8) Perhaps we set up a 2 mile drag strip and settle once and far just how fast these f'ers can go.
9) Get some sponsor money from Suzy, Inc. Also, alcohol promo's. Captain Morgan anyone?
10) Five people show up, one is riding a Harley and is lost.
11) We all lie to the rest of the forum about what a great time they missed.

I figure it's gotta be in the summer, because of the obvious. Probably IA, TX or OK. Who wants to organize it?

Oh crap how fun would that be?!?!?!

I wouldnt know how to organize it.

But IA would be great!!!

Sounds fun. I know jack about those statesand would probably not be good at organizing an event there. I vote the organizer be someone near where the even would be held, that way they know something about the area it would be held in.

Since I've never been to one I wouldnt know what is involved. But if someone told me what they are looking for I could find a spot.

I'm not sure if I'd ride the bike out or load it up in my truck. I'd probably ride. If my GF went (which she probably would) I'd have take the truck. Riding on the back seat for more than 20-30 minutes hurts her... parts. She already (jokingly) asked me to get a new back seat. I told her sure if she pays for it. It's only fair right? since I'll never use that seat. ;)

*Edit

If I did ride we Floridians could hook up on the way out of florida and ride together. That shouldn't be too hard seeing as there's what, 3 roads out of Florida. I-95, I-75 and I-10.

Jer
09-09-2008, 05:45 PM
But you use her "parts" right?

Yea I have to agree with Jer on this one. I would do just about anything to keep my wife's "parts" in good shape.LOL!

Dupo does that map site have a feature to tell you the town that is center-most to the points on the map? That's where we are going.

To the Motel 6 in Butt Hole Creek, IA ,with all you can eat at the BHC Denny's the night before. We'll take a little roadtrip out to the old drive in, before they shut it down when they put the interstate through. Maybe take a photo by the dubya, dubya, two war memorial. Throw down few cold ones at the roadside watering hole, gas 'em up at the Faster Gasser and call it a day. It'll be a blast.

Sarris, Jonathan and Infectus can dress up like their favorite Hello Kitty characters or whatever it is that they're into this week. And Jer can kick his own ass, to save everyone some time.

Oh, man.....that is just BEAUTIFUL!
Too fracking funny! :crackup :haha2:

I love this Rally idea.
There is one that the Rebel guys organize twice a year (I think) in Tenessee.
Seems like we have more "old farts" who might not be into the "twisties" so much so a slightly flatter venue might be better.
I'm not opposed to Iowa....or Missouri maybe.

However it turns out, you'se guys on the left coast are gonna be in the worst position, riding wise......or maybe best depending on your perspective. I'm guessing a ride from LA to central Missouri will take 4 days, minimum, that's avoiding interstates......and some LONG days.

Getting everybody at one time might not be practical. If we forget those frutis and nuts on the west coast, maybe southern Indiana would work. There's a casino in Evansville!!
Maybe the west "branch" could go to Vegas.

alanmcorcoran
09-09-2008, 07:51 PM
Busyweb could do a live broadcast from the Chicken Ranch.

(It's no Evansville, but what're you gonna do.)

You guys get the thing organized, and at least one fruity nut will show up. Maybe I'll have a "real" bike by then.

Jer

Yeah.

Flat = Iowa. Not as flat as Nebraska but certainly elevation challenged.

And should I start kicking my own ass now???? :)

Hey- Alan, you stole my idea, but did a much better job.
Yesterday on another topic, another thread, I said;

"Another problem (not really) is that this forum is addicting. There are many of us who keep checking it a few times a day to see what's happening and are very involved in seeing what's going on and talking to and helping other members on here, who have all become a new close circle of friends. Too bad we all can't get together and meet somewhere and just have a big party. Like going to summer camp for a week or two."

This would be a great idea, a miniature Sturgis, just for us. We either need a big park to camp out in, or the whole floor of a Holiday Inn or Best Western or whatever's out there. Wherever it winds up, some local has to coordinate and make all the arrangements, which is his price to pay for not having to ride so far to get to the party. We need a planning committee for events, bike seminars, etc, or just to arrange a place to meet. By the time this actually could come off, many of us newbies would have enough miles on our butts to make a long trip like this. I think there are at least 4 or 5 of us from Florida that could meet up somewhere and travel together for the security that brings. (Or go together in one car). Keep up the talk and let's see what happens.

Dupo

No, that map thing doesnt have a mid point finder. We'd have to agree on something that 'most' could get to.

I vote Virginia. nor-easterners and florida-ites mid point and about the same ride/drive for midwestern states. You west coasters are phucked i guess :neener:

Alan,
I think your suggestion is brilliant, and the awards top notch. That's what I am trying to do on a more local level here in the Republic of Texas. I have but one suggestion, why reinvent the wheel. There is an organization, headquartered in Hutchinson, KS, which already does exactly what you propose. What's even better, everyone on this forum rides a qualifying bike. Check out www.fssnoc.org (http://www.fssnoc.org). That stands for Four Stroke Singles National Owners Club and they have a gathering in different parts of the country three time each year, one in the East, one in the Central and one in the West. If anyone wants to join, tell them Ron # 4914 sent ya. This might be the answer to your proposal for a GZ gathering.

Ron,

Not sure you completely understand my motivation. You see, your idea is a GOOD idea. And, well, it's your idea. Where's the glory and recognition for me?

Where and when is the West Coast one? I suspect it's way too many people for my taste, but I might ride by and check it out if it is in my neighborhood.

So, you started this, now you don't even want to come and see all of us in one place? Well we can have a "rally" without you if that's what you want. Let the party go on! Like you said, we'll tell you how good it was. Ha! :neener:

I know, you weren't referring to the GZ250bike.com rally, just to that other one Ron mentioned. How far away would it be for you to not come to ours ?

Hmm...I browsed the site and there doesn't seem to be a West Coast event. There's a meet on Oct. 4th in Philipsburg, Montana. Looks to be a small town northwest of Butte in the western end of the state. Not exactly your neighborhood. Mine either.

I've got lots of bad ideas and love to share them. Doesn't always mean I'm going to participate in them. Seriously, any get together is gonna be on the deep fringes of practicality for Moe, Busy and I. I'm not saying it's out of the question (I did ride a bicycle for 200 miles once, 18 hours straight) but, given our bikes don't go that fast, don't hold much gas, and have, shall we say, seats optimized for short jaunts, I'd have to do some serious figurin' to justify a trek of more than 400 or so miles.

Plus, I'm not 100% sure about Moe, but I think we both kind of have jobs. I like you guys alright, but I wouldn't want to blow two weeks of vacay time grinding it out to Butt Hole Creek IA. (No offense to the Buttholians.) Especially considering, there's like, two girls on this site.

Now, my world headquarters is in lively Las Cruces, NM. About a 750 mile run. I'd do that. Anybody ever heard of it? Lots of sand there.

Yeah, because most people's favorite thing to do is ride a motorcycle in full gear 750 miles through the blazing desert.

Actually, LC is at about 4000 feet I think. I believe it's what's known as "high desert." They get snow there. Not in August, of course, but pretty much everywhere is hot then. Might well be hotter in Iowa than Las Cruces.
