For those of you going on an extended road trip, check out the Spot Messenger. It is a small GPS device that sends out a signal periodically enabling anyone, ie. family, friends, etc., with internet access to follow the user's progress on Google maps on the computer. It also lets the user send out an emergency signal requesting help if it is needed, giving their location on the map. The device itself is ~$135-150 depending where you buy it, and the tracking/mapping service is $50/yr. I had a friend who took a trip on his bike (a Harley) from Shell Point FL. (south of Tallahassee) to Sturgis and back, and it was very cool to track his progress all along the way. Go to www.findmespot.com/Home.aspx (http://www.findmespot.com/Home.aspx) and check it out and check Google for Spot messenger to read more.
