Got a new friend for my GZ250 today:

A 2000 SV650N with just under 7,000 miles on the clock. A coworker was selling her and it turned out to be only a few hundred more than I paid for my used GZ250 so it was pretty much a no-brainer. Needs a little TLC to get her polished up and replace a few missing bits, but I'm excited. Took her for a quick ride around the block and found the seating position of a standard to be quite comfortable. I think I'm going to like her alot.

Very nice! Sounds like a super-duper deal. make sure you give us some ride reports with comparisons to the GZ.

Went to the title bureau and BMV and got the title, registration and plates. Then got insurance put on the bike and went out for a ride this evening after work.

All I can say is WOW! The throttle response on the SV650 is amazing. Just blip it and you're already going along at a good pace. Before I knew it, I was going 60 down a surface street and quickly backed off. Went back to the GZ250 and it was like I was standing still. Overall, the riding position isn't as relaxed as the GZ, but it definitely feels more responsive. Brakes are also so much better than my GZ (even after upgrading to ceramic pads). Got some better pictures as well:

To sum it up, riding the SV650 left me with a huge smile on my face.

That is a really good looking bike. Obviously never beat up and abused. Please be extra careful till you get some time on the bike. The 650 V-twin is an awesome engine.
