Welcome, you have found "The place to be for all things GZ". But why do you think you look dumb on it.

I Haven't actually met anyone that is on here but from the descriptions most of them give of themselves, "Including me" I am

6'1" about 200lb's, I think you just described in the height and/or weight department you just described most of the people on

here.

What you look like on your bike really only matters to you. Just some "food for thought".

Gotta ask: Why do you need a new carb ? That's not an item that "wears out" too often. :)

I need the carb because it got a vacume leak in an odd spot and the dealer said it would be more cost efficient on me if i bought a whole carb.

Well of course the dealer told you that... they probably make more money off replacing a carb than rebuilding one. Are you having them replace it, or are you going to do it yourself?

All dealers are not demons.

His statement about the leak being in an odd place, leads me to believe that there is a HOLE somewhere in the BODY of the carb......as opposed to a leaking gasket or similar........something that might turn out to be not repairable. Under those circumstances, I think I'd want a new one too.

Just to nitpick on your generalization, SOME dealers are indeed demons.

...it's all in good fun.

Perhaps, but lets face it: Its far more likely that a gasket is bad than there being an actual HOLE somewhere in the carb. At least that's what I would imagine...

It is a hole in the carb i figured it out by my self and they said that they may be able to fix it but id rather have a new one for safe feeling on my side so im going to buy one and my dads going to help me put it on . But as for the dealer thing it could go either way some are good and some are not.

I'm not questioning your findings. But unless someone drilled a hole in the body of the carb, I just don't see how that's possible. You're just never going to have any kind of impact under there that could cause damage like that, unless it was intentional.

I have no clue how it got there but it did who knows how it got there you never know with some of the people in this world. But i bought a new one of ebay earlier for 156 with shipping so hopefully ill be on the road soon.

No? Well what would you call it then? :??:

Let it go please.

Metal castings are not perfect. There are sometimes bubbles that later become holes.......or pipes press-fitted into a hole that work loose because of vibration. Though not common, there are LOTS of ways a carb. can fail that are not (easily) repairable.

The hole could be possibly from a poor casting from Day 1.

For the record, I'm usually a little wary of dealers who want to sell me a new unit of one kind or another.

Greetings - and I hope you're able to ride soon!

Like others have said, don't worry about what you look like - just enjoy the ride! I went riding with a buddy this weekend - me on my GZ250 and he on his Vulcan 500. We stopped off in town and parked next to a dozen H-D's. I didn't feel like any less of a biker. :rawk:

I didn't feel like any less of a biker.

Especially when you calculate your MPG and figure out how long it'll take for the bike to pay for itself.
